PLEASE READ: Image posting - update April 2025

As long as your content complies with the above rules. From what I've seen, much of it does not.
I have posted risque pictures, yes.
Most got taken down, hence the fact I'm inquiring how I can properly post picture content.

As with most sitewide rules, this one is tailored more to the story side, but applies equally everywhere including the forums.
Is there anything anywhere about what the site is doing to protect people's writing against ingestion by scrapers (AI and others, please? I know many of them ignore robots.txt, and the first line of defence used to be IP blocklists, but I think that may no longer be the case (I didn't follow, or even see, the technical conversation as to why, sorry). Anubis, by Techaro, seems popular.

You can ask @Manu tech questions.

This text is an excerpt of this post:

“Speaking of new features: over the last few years, we've rolled out several new features on Literotica that include visual elements. Those features include the Series Cover Art and the Author Profile Header Images. Those features all had one thing in common: a content guideline of "no nudity in any images". This policy grew out of feedback from the Literotica community.

Many Literotica readers (and authors) shared with us that they visit the site on their phones and would prefer not to have NSFWs images on the screen while someone else is looking over their shoulder. Other members told us there are so many sites on the internet with photos and videos that they would prefer Literotica remain a haven for text - the original intent when the site was launched more than a quarter century ago.

Anyone who's been around a while knows that we've always supported the free speech rights of individuals and websites to publish adult videos, photographs, and artworks. Over time, we've also become more and more aware of Literotica's unique identity as a community dedicated to storytelling via fantasies shared through writing and reading.

A few years into our experiment with the "no nudity" image policy for new features - and with overwhelmingly positive feedback during the experiment - we're planning to expand the policy to more of Literotica's existing features with images over the coming months. The obvious place where it will make a difference is in User Avatars, though we plan to expand the policy to the Literotica Forums as well as to the Illustrated Stories and Artwork in the future. We understand that these changes may have an impact on some members' already-published avatar images, forum uploads, illustrated stories, and artworks - but the total number of images involved should be tiny compared to the total number of images, stories, and other works shared on Literotica.

If you're a forum poster or author who has shared images (photos or artwork) that include nudity, you can prepare for the changes by editing/replacing those images yourself proactively - or you can wait until we have time to review all of the visual works and request changes to those that need to be updated. Again - our research shows that the total number of items impacted by these changes will be very small (this only applies to images, not text), but we understand that each member's work is important to them. While the change might require a little extra effort in the short run, we're confident that it is the best move for the community in the long run. Please feel free to send us any feedback or questions you might have, as always.“

Does this mean that the Ampics forum will be closing?

Has a lot of ramifications for playground too...

Do we know what constitutes nudity? Are we talking any skin that is normally covered by clothes, or just genitalia and nipples?

I'm aware you probably don't know the answers yet, just putting them out there
I think these are the thoughts we're all having.

In the ORP/SRP forum, it will mean the writers using a pic to help visualize their story will have to be more aware. It was one of those areas where "less nudity, more story" was important.

I don't think it will change the AmPics. It's common sense that, if you don't want people seeing what you're looking at, don't go there at the grocery store or while waiting for an oil change.

But...I could be wrong.

I can see AmPics going away entirely.

The GeeBee is going to be a problem.

F&S and The PeeGee will be quite upset.

But .... it all goes back to lit being a STORY site, words over pictures, words to paint pictures.

Something I've been trying to drill home for years.
Yes, this is a story site, but this corner of the site is also an adult forum. If they only want story support, then they'd need to delete every forum but the Author's.

I get that you have, and I've been hearing you say it for the whole time I've been here 😉

I guess my response to that will be that it has evolved into something more than just a story site.

I'd argue that ampics has more of a place on a site called LitEROTICA than things like the politics board, which are nothing to do with being literary, nothing to do with erotica, and all to do with division and hate...

Yes, there are other sites for nude pics, but I haven't found another good one for the more creative aspects of the visual side to this site.

Will the site also stop selling sex toys in banner headlines, and offering cam girls?

Remember ... Literotica .. Literary Erotica, stories, poetry, etc.
I absolutely get that. I'm just saying the site has evolved from what it was 25 years ago...

I would imagine the reason pic forums were added was because a lot of the community wanted them.

It will be a massive double standard if nudity is banned for community members, but there are still ads for cam girls and sex toys on the site

I can't disagree with that.

BUT, that is how they make their money to fund the site.

Keep in mind, the cam girl ads that display here do NOT show naughty bits, at least not any that I've seen. They are all dressed (to some degree).
I get that's how they fund the site. However with be massive reduction in bandwidth once all the pic forums are gone, their costs will be lower surely.

Also for those of us who joined the lit community for the community rather than the stories, I would imagine there will be a drop off in active members, which again will reduce costs.

I can't see anything in Manu's post that threatens the future of the Politics Board. Indeed, his post strengthens their resolve to keep it of anything as it talks about their commitment to free speech.

I can only see that this is actually a cost cutting measure. And if it is, then that's fine. But be honest with us

Regardless of micro bikinis covering their lady bits, this is what I see when I log into the forum:

Vs. What I see when I search Literotica:

Which one to you screams"adult site"? My point is, being bothered by scantilly clad folks in the forum, where you have to search them out, and not being bothered by huge, obviously cam sex ads, is a bit of a double standard.
