Instead of using the military for the right reasons, Trump wants the US to be paid for military help.

Calm down. There never has been an administration that DIDN'T stack the deck with people
who would support admin policy. The president commands the military, remember? Commander in Chief?
That said, Congress has the final say on declaring war. So gear back your hysteria.

Ever since media turned Viet Nam into a "live on TV" event, Americans have been increasingly averse to
body count reports. Recruitment goals haven't been reached lately. Both political parties have favored the hiring of
private companies of mercenaries to replace US troops. These companies are not signatories to any treaties, and
can do things the regular military typically is restricted from doing, such as kidnap, assassinate and torture.

America is already in the hole to the tune of 182 Billion dollars just for Ukraine. Asking Ukraine to pay some of that back with mineral resources isn't "turning the military into a mercenary force".

If you want to get annoyed over politicians making a buck off war, LBJ owned a huge amount of stock in the company that made military helicopters used in Viet Nam. Vice president Cheney owned a lot of stock in a major supplier to the military. Every weapon made in America gets parts made in multiple states; this is the bribe the weapons company offers Congress. Vote for my weapon, we send jobs to your state, and when your term of office is over, we will give you a lucrative job. In his farewell address, president Dwight Eisenhower, formerly a general, warned about this crap, a perpetual state of war, driven by profit.

Trump never sides with anyone but Trump. He is a deal maker and a back stabber, and that can be useful. Reagan was successful against the USSR because they believed that he really was senile and insane enough to actually go to war.

If you factor in the cost of the military presence necessary to ensure a steady supply of foreign oil, the actual price for a gallon of gas would more like fifteen dollars than four.

The solution is to drastically scale back American involvement in foreign countries, especially the American military. The military should be for home defense only, not to play police man overseas.

He's not "stacking the deck." He's clearing a path to dictatorship.
