🌶️💃🏻🎸Brat House: Boobs, Bums and Bedlam🌶️💃🏻🎸

I have no idea if any of this will come out. But, I opened up my french doors, and sat outside and played my acoustic, with the camera inside, near the amp, hoping that would pick up the sound better.

And the kitties were hanging out, playing around, then my dog came outside... and at some point, I moved the camera more outside, focused on the yard where the kitties where then playing, not so much on me, and played some more.

I'm about to go review the footage and see if anything is usable at all... but it was so fun, so nice, just sitting outside in the chilly air, playing some guitar with my babies playing around me. 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰

Time for another Brenda music story.

About 30 years ago, I was playing with a “garage band” (really an in my basement band). I was the youngest, everyone else was approaching 40 at the time (recurring theme in my life). These were people who all had professional lives, and weren’t trying to make a living at this, just to have fun, and sound really good. that was it. They were all interesting and meant a lot to me, but tonight I want to talk about Penny. She was a folk singer type, who played a beautiful ovation guitar, often using a capo, and this woman had a beautiful voice. We used to do several Bonnie Raitt tunes, because they just fit her, so well. in fact, she reignited my interest in Bonnie. i never got to tell Penny how much she influenced me, in sooo many ways. We had a rocky start (I reminded her of an ex), but we got through that and became friends. I bought my current ovation, that I play tonight, because of Penny and the sound she got from hers. This morning I got my first “capo”. I hadn’t thought about them in years, but Penny used one to amazing effect back in the day. So on a whim, I bought one. When it got delivered (amazon), I gave it a quick try on my Telecaster. And it suddenly struck me… Penny played a Telecaster, partly because I recommended them to her. Fast forward to this afternoon, I decided to play something outside, because I can, used my ovation, and my new capo (only 2nd time I’ve used one)… and here it is.

So… thanks Penny. Even though you will likely never know about this, we lost touch years ago… you were, and still are, a big inspiration to me.

And lastly, I realized the kittens were tending to play nearby in the yard, which I kept watching because I think they are adorable…. So I moved the camera more out the door, which I thought might ruin whatever sound quality I had… but the kitties were… well, this is take three, with my new capo again.

And yeah, I’m totally winging it, so not consistent, maybe not even a proper chord progression… but… kitties!!!

And I think my dog Amy, even joined us.

After that got done, I decided to take the capo off, and just pay some more. See what came out.
