It does not promote incompetence, and it does not keep white men unemployed.

DEI:

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (often abbreviated DEI) refers to the practice of companies crafting policies to be supportive of different groups of individuals, including different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations.[2] These policies are an outgrowth of previous similar policies such as affirmative action, and were spurred by the murder of George Floyd in 2020.[3] However, in the mid-2020s, there was a coordinated backlash against DEI from "conservative" reactionaries.

Manufactroversy background[edit]

The anti-DEI manufactroversy is an outgrowth of the similar manufactroversy of critical race theory, and many "anti-DEI" activists (such as Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute) were likewise involved in the previous manufactured outrage cycle.[4]

According to a New York Times investigation in January 2024, the center of the coordinated effort to push anti-DEI propaganda came from the Claremont Institute,https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5a/Wikipedia%27s_W.svg/12px-Wikipedia%27s_W.svg.png a once-small Reagan-esque think tank that became authoritarian and illiberal during the presidency of Donald Trump.[5][6] As one would expect, many of the activists involved in crafting the propaganda (such as Heather Mac Donald) were openly homophobic and racist in their private conversations discussing their propaganda strategies.[5]

The evidence for manufactroversy is confirmed by Trump's own behavior. During his first administration, the policies of diversity hiring from previous administrations were left intact, even within the Federal Aviation Administration, which he baselessly blamed for an air crash during his second administration on DEI.[7]

Like critical race theory, a key underpinning of the manufactroversy was to attack public education and other "liberal" higher education institutions.[5][note 1] Also like critical race theory, efforts to eliminate DEI programs are rooted in racism.[8]

Similar to the term "woke", in practice, when reactionaries use the term "DEI", they often ignore much of the original aspect of DEI being a business strategy. Instead, the term is often merely a snarl word dogwhistle used to derisively refer to minority groups and/or women, especially those working in a professional capacity.[10][11] In many cases (Lee Atwater style), as with the case of Baltimore Mayor Scott below, the term "DEI" is merely a thinly-veiled substitution for nasty racial slurs.[12]

"DEI" is also a convenient scapegoat for reactionaries. Whenever any disaster occurs, no matter how bizarre the logic, it's very likely that some reactionary media pundit or social media account will be screeching about how it's all DEI's fault.[13]

This week, Trump is dishonestly, with no foundation, blaming DEI for a horrible aviation accident in DC.

Other leaders in the past would scapegoat certain groups of people whenever things went wrong. With Hitler, it was Jews, and Roma (gypsies.) With Trump, it's women and people of color. It never ends well- for anybody. This sounds rather frighteningly similar.

Even more frigteningly, some of you people WILL see the connection and be absolutely okay with it.

DEI can be blamed for horrific recruiting for our military…..

Here is the problem with DEI. It undermines White supremacy. I understand why white people vote for White Supremacy but maybe someone can explain it to the 13% of blacks and 43% of Latinos who voted for Trump. Jews for Hitler!

Well, ironically it will probably hurt recruiting for the military even more. If I was a woman or a person of color, I would be far less likely to enlist now, knowing that they really don't want me, or if they did, I would be far less likely to be promoted in rank.

But you're not blaming that on DEI, but on the Trump Admin's new anti-DEI policy.

DEI example in King County (Washington) The county executive pushed a charter amendment two years ago, changing the position of Sheriff from being elected to being appointed. That succeeded. He then appointed Patty Cole-Tindall, a career politician with NO law enforcement experience, simply because SHE is BLACK! Funny thing, the Sheriff he didn't want? A gay woman with 36 years of law enforcement experience. Go figure.

Lemme get this straight…
The voting electorate changed the appointment process for your local sheriff and you’re saying it’s DEI because a black woman was given the job over a gay woman? Whew! It’s hard being a racist and discriminating bigot, huh? You can’t even decide which is worse between the two.

For not doing anything it sure is triggering the fuckin' shit out of the anti-white anti-male bigots.

It does not promote incompetence, and it does not keep white men unemployed.
The only thing DEI does is prevent lesser-qualified white males from leaping over candidates who are non-white and/or non-male due to longstanding preferences of white priviiege.

Yes I know I posted this cartoon previously but i couldn't find it to bump.
p.s. only someone with a completely smooth brain will claim "white privilege" does not exist.

Let me explain this REAL slow, so even you can understand. The elected sheriff, Mitzi Johanknick, a 36 year LE vetetan, was not liked by the County Executive, Dow Constatine, because she had a mind of her own, and wouldn't bow down to Constatine. So, the charter was changed so he could name a puppet, instead of a law enforcement expert. Is that easy for even you to understand?

How is it that I have a feeling that if I do the required research that there will be more to this story than what you're telling.

The sheriff, Mitzi Johanknick, fostered a toxic racial animosity among cops in her department. One of her first actions was to "discipline" one of her direct reports (a senior male white captain) to a one day suspension for referring to all black teenagers as "animals" on social media.

A rogue cop decided to dish out a little "summary justice" on a minority high school student he THOUGHT had killed a police lieutenant's stepson, by firing multiple rounds into the suspect's back, five shots at point blank range while straddling over student who was lying face down on the ground (the coroner reported the last five pointblank shots went completely through the victim's body, ricocheted off the hard pavement and reentered his body at different angles.

Oops, wrong guy, my bad, we cool right?

Johanknick slow-marched the investigation, issued a "final report" that did not indicate the victim had been shot in the back and the bullets from the victim's body had been 'altered' in the police evidence room. Her "investigation" was reviewed by outside legal experts who called it shoddy beyond belief. The rogue cop was never charged, instead he was promoted.

The high school victim's parents sued and won a multimillion dollar settlement, and Johanknick sent a pissy little email to her entire staff the next day bitching about the settlement. THAT was the straw that broke the camel's back, a pissed off public voted to abolish the elected sheriff's position and make the sheriff position accountable to the county government.

Jeff appears to be a big fan of armed guys in uniforms dishing out "summary justice" on unarmed people. He is not a serious person.

Hmmmm. I figured as much. I thought that just the fact that people went out and voted for a change in how the sheriff was chosen was the lynch pin to the story but your research and context fills in the “why?” of the matter. Thanks for this! 😍

Also, Whydafuk do you trumpers, MAGA, and whatever it is that remains of the Republican Party lies so fuckin much to believe it’s a virtue to be proud of? Deplorable!

In your research did you take notice of how many openings the King County Sheriff's department has? I believe it's between 100 and 125. Why? Career police officers don't want to work for a career civil servant, who has never been a law enforcement officer. Never. Having been an Air Force policeman for 4 years, I have way more experience than Cole-Tindall does. But, I'm now a 78 year old white guy, who wouldn't accept the job in any circumstance. When I retired nearly 15 years ago, I finished 36 years of consulting with that same department, 21 of those years working for the County, so I know just a tiny bit more about the situation than you had read. The fact is Johanknick wasn't perfect, but WAS elected! She was hated by the County Executive, mainly because she refused to be his puppet. I worked with these people, did you?

You’re a fuckin liar.
In your first post you specifically said Cole-Tindall had ‘NO’ experience. And here you said you had ‘way more’ than her - a flub that caused me to look her up.

https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/sher...fice/about-leadership-team/patti-cole-tindall

She has more than enough work and experience in law enforcement. She doesn’t have the experience that YOU feels she should. But that would require you telling the truth which, we’ve seen established, you are incapable of doing. Fuck you. Fuck off.

I'm glad to see you looked her up. Did you read about her best felony arrest? Did you read about her best misdemeanor arrest? Did you read about any arrest she made? The answer to all 3 questions is a resounding no, because she has made none. She actually had to be instructed on how to load the fucking hsb

Oops, let me finish. She had to be instructed on how to load the fucking hand gun she was issued, so she wouldn't shoot any of the cops around her.

IDGAF.
You are now moving the goal posts. Her qualifications are spotless for the job. I don’t want a person who’s achieved the level of general deconstructing an M 12 rifle and I don’t want a sheriff playing Rambo. But that is still you and I having a deferring opinion. The fact of the matter is SHE IS QUALIFIED.

Also, no one here needs to listen to Maga calling for the job qualifications of not a one GODDAMN PERSON. 😡.
And you’re still a liar.
