Sex & Shenanigans

I stumbled in there by accident a few weeks ago, and now I can't stop going back. It's like being at the zoo, watching the monkeys fling shit at each other. It's completely pointless. Like, the same 4 people over and over again going "no, u!" and nobody making any sort of headway. They'll never convince anyone else of what they're trying to push, nobody's saying anything that "their team" isn't already aware of, and it's just.... yeah.

So utterly, completely pointless. I wonder if they're just constantly beating their meat and getting off on the discourse. It has to be that, right? It's sexual to them? High on the adrenaline of anonymous shrieking?
And they're just so toxic and mean about it.

But....now I wonder if that may be because MindY pops over there every now and then to jam a broom handle into the hornet's nest.

....

Nah.
They're just assholes.

Okay, cum-ball aside, I don't think I've ever seen Spidey push his hands together like that to fire his webs? Looks more like he's trying to shoot a Hadouken energy ball...
Wasn’t a thing when I was collecting the comics. But there’s so many interpretations of him now I wouldn’t be surprised if they had added it as thing.

Yeah I haven't actively read the comics since the clone saga which was in... the late 90s and a bit into the 2000s? I subscribed to Marvels online comic library for a bit, which gives you access to everything they've put out, to try and get back into it but there's just waaaaaaaaaay too much stuff. Gave up after a week.

More limited runs, please!

70s and into the early 80s were so good.
Even DC was better then.

Darker storylines and the art seemed to be less over the top.

Exactly! I can't understand why you'd come to an erotica forum to argue politics. I mean, there's sexy discussions & boobs everywhere. How can you be angry when boobies are about!

When I first ventured out of The Author's Hangout into the more social Lit, I went there, hoping for some adult-level of conversation. The AH is very adult, so that was my watermark. Was I surprised...

I was, at one point, incredibly political, very much up on everything, and always looking to have a good discussion with people who disagreed with me so I could understand their views, both where we differed and where we inevitably found common ground. These halcyon days ended a number of years ago (and way before the Lying Cheeto entered the picture) -- everything is so acrimonious and venomous. So I quit, cold turkey, for my own mental stability, and I am much happier. But, ever the fool, I, I dipped my toes in there. And felt like I had to cut them off afterwards--scrubbing would never get them clean. I can't do it, not even for the comedy value.

Not exclusively.. One of my former favorite writers is super prolific in there. She writes excellent asian-inclusive stories that aren't fetishistic(?), but now I can't bear to look at them again. Ever. Makes my skin crawl.
I used to post on a sports forum and the men there were so toxic… they were constantly ragging on women for being “fat” and “ugly” … (myself included)..

What bothered me the most is that most of them were married and I imagine their wives had no idea how horrible they were acting on the internet

On the news the other morning they were discussing pink shirt day and how even after a decade of bullying awareness nothing has changed and it’s actually gotten worse online.

I love Jean, but she had a perfect ending, in a perfect finale, in an almost perfect storyline. She deserved better, and by "better," to be left in peace.
Absolutley. But it was also one of the more impactful retconnings of the Marvel Universe and they just got bad habits from how successful it was.

We’re living in the backlash. *sigh*
