Sex & Shenanigans

What would you consider a social faux pas in here?
I can give 2 recent examples: In another thread, a non-regular poster appeared to pile on some actually funny criticisms of another regular poster, who happened to be a woman, prompting clapbacks from a few regular male posters that I felt went a bit too far. In another different thread, I saw the mood go from funny banter and minor insults to nastiness pretty quickly, and I bailed on that.

So far I've been enjoying this thread because people here don't seem too take comments too seriously. Maybe that'll change, but for now I've found the back-and-forth to be fun.

Anyway, that's just my 2¢, which isn't going to get you anywhere in the economy these days.

Ok well…. white knighting is a thing but also … it’s hard to not want to defend someone you care about from shit comments.

Trust me, this thread has had its fair share of that kind of behaviour.

what I’ve learned is that if someone makes a shitty comment you don’t like, ignore them.. don’t engage…

and I encourage EVERYONE here to do the same. If the comment is truly vile .. like actual harassment or hate speech. Report it to the mods and leave it be.

Piling on and engaging is just going to amp up the drama and make everyone involved miserable. Plus someone who makes shitty comments is likely just to continue to make more and more.

If someone is being shitty in here I might clap back at them initially but that’s about it. Or I’ll tell them straight up that I’m reporting their comment.
I use my ignore function pretty liberally.

shit people are a plague on the internet… engaging with the trolls only fuels their fire.
Leave them be and let them burn themselves to death.

Oh, you gave an opinion, I hate you now...

Honestly, threads like this have their own culture, and in ones like S&S, the learning curve can be a bit steep. The people are good, and warm, but it moves quickly, and that throws some people off. The main faux pas that end up in here mostly seem to come from people who don't take any time to read the room. Pushing too hard in flirting, making people uncomfortable, throwing around unsolicited dick pics, attacking people in posts, and then, if called on it, doubling down rather than learning the culture. Negative interactions here usually get ignored rather than called out, but sometimes the person won't let well enough alone. It happens, but it is usually self-correcting. But we learn, or we leave.
