I’d do the same if I was an agency head. I don’t have any federal government experience but in my private sector experience spanning decades, I’ve never heard of the HR department attempting to micromanage employees in other departments. Elon got blown off in a very public way. lol.

I don’t think Trump or Musk are terribly concerned with optics. They are attempting to fundamentally transform the bureaucracy. In doing so, they are moving with unprecedented speed and force. They are testing the limits of executive branch authority and public sector unions on multiple fronts.

Love it or hate it, the federal government and the international order is undergoing dramatic change of historic proportions.
