The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

So glad to hear that she’s doing better.

Safe travels to you.

Yes, today is the 500… well at least of the Daytona kind…

the REAL 500 is in May! (Love them ol open wheel roadsters and sprint cars!)

For our all-girl gang, the pink car is for you!
Easy day at work. Was going to get to watch some of the 500 but the weather pushed it back. By the time I got to the hotel I was able to catch the last 50 laps or so…and really…that’s all you need to watch! 🤣.

Those pics bring back some memories. We have a local parade and the old Dodge dealer when it was downtown had a small showroom. Richard Petty and Donnie Allison who drove the #1 Hawaiian Tropic car in the 70’s were there signing autographs. I still have it at my mother’s somewhere. Donnie drove Hoss Ellington’s car then. My dad used to build roll cages for Hoss when he was. a driver. He got drafted and that was the end of his affiliation with the race teams. They all moved up closer to Charlotte anyhow.

Still dealing with the cold, so more wishing for spring Z…

I am not too much of a fan of the cup racing, but the Daytona 500 is special. It’s a great race track and an iconic race.

I was hoping Kyle Larson would win the 500. He's my favorite driver, followed by the rest of the HMS drivers.

I do like the open wheel modifieds a lot - open wheel stock cars. They are king here all over the NE and in North Carolina at bowman-gray stadium.

Met Donnie Allison once at the modified race at stafford springs CT. He was the 1965 modified champ. A lot of the early drivers raced Winston cup and also the modified series. That was back in the day when backyard mechanics raced and built their own cars.

An old coupe and a few gremlins - that may be a pinto modified on the right.

My parents are sick with a cold or virus of some sort...no fever just the cough runny nose crap

I sent them an Amazon care package with instructions....
There is LOTS of stuff going around. My kid slept all Friday and Saturday. Seemed weird, then I ended up with the same thing yesterday. I slept for 3 hours again starting at noon.

My friend called me last night. My dog LOOOOVES her because she gives her lots of treats! Well, she heard her voice on speaker and went nuts! My friend had to talk to her for a bit! 🤣🤣🤣
My mom talked to sven on the phone. He loves my mom...he walks really slowly next to her and stands or sits next to her chair when she comes over like he is guarding her

Busy day today.

I was off for Presidents’ Day, but there’s no rest for the weary. The property we manage in a town near us is almost entirely in the shade so we had to break up ice with a breaker bar. I had to buy sand and a little bit of a “land reclamation “ from the snowplow to get some rocks and stones on top of the ice to give it some gription. (Grip plus traction.)

Had to do the same at the farm. And we sold a shit load of firewood, so I had to fill up the wood bins.

Mrs wonderer and I then went to one of her customers to get some pussy willow clippings. Believe it or not they are currently blooming. (Pics below)

Heh, heh, I also said pussy…

Went to a gun store I know, and I made a purchase I’ve been wanting for a while. A Colt Python revolver.

Now making wonderer gravy for spaghetti squash. Gonna watch the SNL 50th anniversary show.

Its funny when i make broth with bones..... the next day it is chicken flavored jello

I am making some soup or something with it
We cook a lot of whole chickens. I save the drippings/broth for soup, which is a great base to start with. Even the soup is like jello when it cools. So much better flavor. Also the added fat and protein keep you full compared to a soup without that base.

It's right at zero out there, and now you're making me want soup!
