Haha!! So was there a self motivational pep talk where you practiced? I was lucky enough to be in Miami for my first experience. Everyone is as worldly as they are stupid and language barriers make everything easier!

Last summer, Starbucks came out with a Lavender Latte. Someone on Lit was so happy to try it out, but it was not to their liking. (Starbucks sucks. Just sayin'). They used a powdered mix, and it didn't dissolve fully, so it came out gritty and not tasty as they had hoped. They were very disappointed. I do not usually like flavored coffee, but I felt bad, and thought they couldn't actually have any, I made some lavender syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water, then steep culinary-grade lavender in it for 15 minutes before straining) and made some espresso for my own lavender latte. Using real lavender pulls out some floral notes that are just lovely.

Salty's Variations on a Theme thread had an appropriate theme, so I took a picture.

Now that flavor reminds me of them, and makes me smile still.

I love that so much thank you for sharing it. Also, side note, I know Starbucks isn't great, but it's still what I get on "Treat Yo-self" days. But, making my own lavender syrup? Gosh, imagine the possibilities the would open with alcohol too

It’s a nice sipping drink and worth trying. I like the mezcal variant better because of the smoky flavor but don’t often keep mezcal around. Can play around with expressed citrus garnish as well.
