Generally speaking, what do you eat for breakfast?

1 hard boiled egg and a large cup of black coffee.

What do you eat for lunch?

PB&J, or peanut butter and banana sandwich.
This is where I fail the most. Too much bread!

Are you a healthy eater, or do you need serious improvement?

Needs improvement. Some could argue serious improvement.

Do you exercise regularly, not at all, or keep busy enough that your general day is exercise?

Somewhat regularly, but I really fell off the wagon for a while. I do, however, get a lot of exercise in my daily life that is probably the only thing that keeps me from beefing up.

What breathing exercises do you do?

None. But seriously looking into the Wim Hof breathing technique. I’m still doing the research, but I am very interested in this whole idea of alkaline blood to fight inflammation, pain, stress, etc.

Do you get enough sleep?

Yes. I could sleep all day if I was allowed to!

Are you a Win Hof cold plunger, or more of the Spa Day type?

Working on the cold shower idea. Still learning, but I really like what I’m reading. I have tried cold showers before to increase my own suffering, but I found it boring.

What I’m learning now is the benefits that can come from the “shock” of it as pertains to emotion, stress, anxiety, pain control and an overall ability to force my body to do what I want it to do rather than being the rogue agent it likes to be.

If I see results, rest assured, I will brag about it at a later date. If not, this conversation never took place.

Do you meditate? How often and how . . . intense?

I don’t but I need to. A friend of mine is basically Yoda and he does a lot of yoga and meditation. I’ve tried both, but they are too passive for me. However, according to my Yoda friend, mediation can be simply being still and trying to focus. You don’t actually have to be focused—it’s okay if your mind wanders.

What kind of vitamins are you gobbling down everyday?

Fish oil, Vitamin D3 plus K2 and Zinc (if there are a lot of sick people around.)

Do you notice harder erections with exercise, or are you generally the same stiffness (Ladies, you can answer too about your partner, or your own arousal with exercise)?

What a weird question! Not necessarily harder, but definitely hornier when exercising.

What food makes your partner taste better? 😛

It ain’t anchovies!

I looked on the Wim Hof website and played the video. I think if I tried that, I would hyperventilate! I believe Yoga uses a slower version.

Definitely not something to jump right into. It does make you lightheaded and you need to be sitting down while doing the breathing.

But I’m interested and going to see what happens. 👍

That’s about an hour after waking up. Then the coffee is about an hour after that. Lunch about 4 hours later. I haven’t bought into the intermittent fasting yet, though tons sweat by it.

I just booked it! 🥂

I lied.
I got excited!

For a hot second. 😂

As long as nobody was sleeping in their socks, I’ll allow it.
Hey! I sometimes sleep in socks! 😑

Unlike everyone else here, I am actually a pretty solid sleeper. I generally sleep soundly and feel rested each day. I have few problems falling asleep.
So, my question is how?

How, do you accomplish this amazing feat?

Are you sin free? Immune to worry? Drink hot milk before bedtime? A hot shower? Drugs? Do you worship the old gods?

I can assure you I'm not the only one who wants to knooooooooooow.

Is there some special knack? Share with us your magic. 🙏

Pretty please.

Sincerely,
Sleep Deprived

I sleep well under a very specific set of circumstances that almost never happen.

I'm convinced that solid sleepers have some kind of black magic that they're not letting the rest of us in on!

On rare occasions when I’m freezing, I’ve worn socks to bed. They never last long and definitely have never made it through the night on my feet 😂
This is exactly what happens to me. 🤣

I mean, I will pay real money. 😂

I sleep well under a very specific set of circumstances that almost never happen.
I really wish I knew the magic cocktail of circumstance, environment, and my own biology that made my sleep so sound.

I definitely don’t have something I eat or drink every night other than something. But I really don’t recommend that cause it’s not a healthy habit. I just like to eat and especially when I’m tired or bored.

I have found that a book or Tv helps to slow my brain down. It focuses it on the story at hand and settles faster. The downside of this is that if I watch a movie in the theater, I’m likely to fall asleep 50% of the time since my mind has now associated that with sleep. I don’t engage in the movie as much as everyone else because of it.

I do stay very busy during the day and try to exercise regularly which I truly think helps to aid sleep.

Don’t get me wrong, I have my occasional bad night sleep. As a matter of fact, I jinxed myself the other day after writing that I sleep well and was awake for 2.5 hrs in the middle of the night. That’s not the norm though.

Find your bodies natural sleep times and lock it in. Mine seems to be going to sleep generally by 11 and waking up at about 6.

Now back to our regular cock talkery.

I'm also an excellent sleeper. It's seriously my super power. It's rare I get a bad night's rest. Even with a broken arm I'm sleeping soundly.

For me: I know my body pretty well. I've learned that sleep and rest are always worth it for me. If I don't know what to do with myself, I put myself to bed. I've never regretted it.

My sensory needs also play in here. I need to be able to fully relax into bed. I make mental notes if the sensations I find enjoyable. That helps me adapt to different beds (I travel a lot and can't control sheets, etc.) when I'm out and about. Focusing on the good things allows me to use that loveliness to relax

At home I have clean sheets weekly; flannel in the winter and cotton in the summer. I sweat in synthetics, so it's all natural fibers for me. Wool blankets and cotton quilts. I also sleep better with pressure. As a kid I loved my sheets tucked in tight and I'd squeeze myself into them. I do the same thing now and also use a weighted blanket. That was the secret sauce to my incredible slumber.

Generally speaking, what do you eat for breakfast?
Black coffee

What do you eat for lunch?
Leftovers from the night before.

Are you a healthy eater, or do you need serious improvement?

Yes and no. I don't eat consistently which can be a problem. I struggle to recognize hunger signals in my body until it's a five alarm fire and I still haven't established consistent habits around eating. I eat "healthy" when I do, but when I leave it too long and enter hangry mode, I just need to get something into me and it's usually junk food.

Do you exercise regularly, not at all, or keep busy enough that your general day is exercise?

I do exercise regularly. In between breaking myself, of course. I try to get to the gym at least twice a week. It's not only important for my physical health, it's a crucial component of my emotional health. That place is my community. I work remotely and really miss having in person coworkers. I need to be around people and so I'm filling that need with my gym buddies. I love that crew so much 🤩

What breathing exercises do you do?

Ha. A lot. I'm a breathing nerd 🤓 (ask me anything about sleep related breathing disorders and I'll talk your ear off).
The two I do the most are:
1. Box breaths. ,4-4-4-4. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds. Repeat
2. Straw mouth exhales. I fill my lungs with air and purse my lips as if I were blowing through a straw. I exhale until my lungs are completely empty. I learnt this from the NSDR (non sleep deep rest) protocol and it really helps me control my asthma. I teach all my patients this one and we're having incredible outcomes in diaphragm control 🙌🙌

Do you get enough sleep?
Yup. I get 8-9 hours a night

Are you a Win Hof cold plunger, or more of the Spa Day type?

Spa day. Every time I'm in Chicago I try to go to the Korean spa. It has elements of hot/could plunge and sauna, as well as no frills spa services and incredible food.

Do you meditate? How often and how . . . intense?

Yes. I do the NSDR protocol I mentioned above. I need to slow down to think deeply and my work can require some deep thought.
I also try to spend a few minutes just focused on my breath.
And I do a simple meditation of noticing 5 things I can see, 4 things I can hear, 3 sensations I notice, 2 things I can smell, and what I taste in a particular moment.
I also kind of meditate with household chores. I really focus on being in the kitchen and washing the dishes, sitting on the bed folding and putting away clothes. I enjoy the feeling of doing something and seeing it through. I struggle with that at times and there's something mediative about taking care of yourself in this way

What kind of vitamins are you gobbling down everyday?

Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Vitamin B complex
Iron

Do you notice harder erections with exercise, or are you generally the same stiffness (Ladies, you can answer too about your partner, or your own arousal with exercise)?

I'm definitely more aroused when I'm exercising. I feel good and can really lean in to my own pleasure.

What food makes your partner taste better? 😛

Trick question!

I could sleep on a pile of rocks.
In fact, I have! 😎

I do love my weighted blanket though.
I just need to get something into me
You knew we were going to take this out of context. 🧐
