IMHO the most common dick pic mistake is too close/no context. Just a gnarly closeup of some wrinkly flesh (specially if it's not even fully hard). After that, shit lighting. Try for some light and shade, it helps shape and dramatise.

At risk of seeming like a didactic asshole, I'm going to put this one out there in support of my thesis. It's not too close and has context of legs, panties. It's rock hard.
