The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Most all gas today has some ethanol mixed in. Mostly at 10% for 87 octane through 90 octane. There is Unleaded 88 now for cars built after ‘01 that has 15% ethanol and something called E85 that has up to 85% for Flex vehicles. The ethanol is corn and the gubment pays a lot of subsidies to farmers so you see the Unleaded 88 a lot in the Midwest or so I’m told.

The ethanol gas turns to sugar (that’s what we say around these parts anyhow) if it sits too long. That’s what gums up small engines as they don’t get used as much or sit up over the winter. It’s getting easier to find but you can find gas with no ethanol in it. Like back in the old days….Hi Test or Low Test! 🤣. The non-ethanol gas is what you want to use on your small engines.

There is a gal on the UToob that has a good rundown of fuel additives. She uses some science and black magic, but bottom line she claims most of those are hocus pocus and only maybe two actually do what they say! I’ll look for the link when I get the chance and post. *Found her!

I also second the Honda mowers. we’ve had one now for 3 or 4 years. Only run non-ethanol gas in it, it cranks on first or second pull after sitting up for the winter, and it sips fuel. Like, I can get 2 full yard mowings per tank. I’ve never had a mower that I didn’t. have to fill up at least once during a mow. Heard good things about the Toro’s but I think they have Briggs&Stratton engines?

Enjoy the big game today. Since half the tribe is sick, just immediate fam is watching so I’m going to do Cowboy Ken’ts Chili Colorado today. I think I posted the link for it here, but didn’t get a chance to make it last time. Finally…the MZ…

I have no idea where to get gas without ethanol......

For those that want to geek out on gas this morning…If It seems like I’m latched onto this subject like a chihuahua on meth, it’s because I filled the wife’s car up last night and saw this Unleaded 88…never heard of it, but it was .30c cheaper than than the 87 Octane at the pump! So I went home and did some research on it.

I’ll let Scotty K explain it. WARNING…if you get flicker vertigo, don’t watch Scotty’s hands! He’s full of info but hard to watch! 🤣

It’s probably a lot closer to you than you think, you just may never have noticed it. It’s about a dollar more per gallon than your usual. A lot of places have it at the same pumps as your other gas. At one time I had to search it out, and if you do, here is a handy site to Find a store near you!

So to all you tech people what is the benefit to a 256 vs 512 (gig?) Phone.... I can't remember what they are called. The price isn't that much different
If price is no option, then always go for more memory. If you take tons of pics, then you’ll need it.

What he said. If you don't use the cloud *up there* for Mystical Magical *Up There* storage, the 512 will hold lotsa shit.

I got the 512 for my new/rebuilt iPad, mostly because I could. It was under $100 more.

F*ck Scotty. He has no eyes. I've been running 88 "blue" gas in Petunia the Big Red Truck for as long as I've had her (39 months and counting) and never missed a beat. My experience versus Annoying Scotty.

As I tell folks after I go all opinionated (an' shit), go out and have your own experience.

The hoses are usually red at the Sheetz stores. Buc-ee's hoses seem to be the same color (black), I think.

As always, read the label.

Scotty is the man!

I think it must have been at some time. It's a separate bulb with a switch on the cord.
Ours wasn't ceramic. Pretty sure this was one of my mom's "garage sale treasures" and had been homemade. It was made from the artificial tree material you would see on a full size fake tree and the real mini colored lights. Then that fake spray paint flock snow here and there all over it. I forget how the base was put together for it to stand upright. It was only about 8-12 inches tall. So the same size as the ceramic, but not ceramic. With 4 kids? That sucker got knocked over or grabbed numerous times. Ceramic would have been disastrous (mostly for the tree). So I think the materials and construction were another factor maybe??

I’m not all that techie, but I hate shit in the cloud. Just more bullshit to forget, although it is good for back up.

I went with 512 last time and regret nothing. I can find all my photographs whenever I want and queue up a shit load of tunes.

If you don’t take a lot of photographs or keep a lot of songs on your phone, probably not needed.

I put full on leaded gas into one Torino. I get it at the local airport. 93 octane leaded fuel for airplanes. Expensive but much better for older engines.
