I voted Against Trump- and so I guess that means I voted for whatshername.

As far as a general mood, both myself, and a lot of people I know, are scared and alarmed, and many believe that America, as a free, prosperous and democratic nation, is basically over. I do know several people who voted for Trump who are regretting having done so; they were motivated primarily by economic concerns. Now they are realizing that they are in for a much rougher ride than they were during the last four years.

My mother, who is on fixed income, is concerned about her taxes going up (as they did under the last Trump administration) and seeing her social security benefits going away. I have a niece who is going through gender-identity issues and, well, I don't need to say more, other than we all fear what's in store for her.

As for Elon's role, I find it ironic that those who voted for Trump thinking he would clear out the Washington Elites, is now beholden to the biggest and most blatant self-serving elite in the country- an unelected oligarch who for all intents and purposes, runs it.

Good question, there are a variety of factors that came out in the past election.

• Trump was elected with razor-thin majorities in virtually every state that had sizeable minority populations, something like 50-to-49% (1% to the "spoiler candidates"). MAGA spins this as a "landslide".
• The number of white Democrats voting, particularly in Midwestern and Southern states, actually dropped from 2020 to 2024. This would suggest that a certain demographic of white Democrat voters could not bring themselves to vote for a woman, which is troublesome. (The avalanche of newly empowered black women made up a lot of that shortage, it simply wasn't enough).
• Israeli despot Benjamin Netanyahu did everything he could to get Trump elected. Early on, he realized he had virtually no chance of convincing significant numbers of American Jews to vote for Trump, so he pivoted and campaigned tirelessly for Arab-americans to "vote for anyone except Biden". That latter strategy has paid off. Trump got elected and now Arabs are being evicted from Gaza.
• And finally, this last election proved beyond a doubt that there is a hardcore minority of white trash voters who will never under any circumstances vote for a "colored" and/or a "woman" EVER....and they will work very hard to keep people who DO vote for these people they deem "undesirable" from having their votes counted.
