Man, people don't like these short stories, lol

They like them just fine IF they satisfy. That is the key. I've read several this week that fit that bill. Many tried to include too many issues and the answers were unsatisfactory. Several I read are good outlines for a longer better story that could be told properly.

When you submit a story to LW, you will get immediate feedback that exceeds most of the other categories. You may hit the mark or miss. (Most miss.) In the case above, the story story was well-written and hit the 'feel right' ideal the readers want.

Well my first LW story was published and already the pace of engagement is eclipsing everything else I've ever published. And they don't all hate it! My dopamine receptors are tingling.

That was because you left enough ambiguity in the story to make the reader wonder. Did she? The husband was obviously manipulated by Darla or was he completely? Was there real cheating going on?
Or was Darla playing and counting on him keeping his mouth shut. What should he do? It made the story fun. And you deserve the accolades.

I was curious if anyone would comment on/pick up him being a predator. A few seemed to. And I don't think the readers in that category understand how difficult it can be for some women to leave their husband/partner, even when he's a giant predatory douche. It can be particularly difficult if he hasn't hit her.

I want to build on the story. It would do absolutely abysmally here, but it would be a hell of a survival and perseverance story.

The one thing you can say about 26thnc is he is an avid reader and not a bit shy about his opinion of a story. I love it. He has nailed a few of my stories and praised others. Often for the same reason. That goes to show you that your presentation makes a difference.

That was an amazing story, probably the best of the 750 Word pieces I've read to date. If the unwashed masses can't get it, then eff them! That's a story to be proud of!

Next up is a 750 worder entry in the gay genre, big departure for me. That's the fun in writing, the challenge. Sometimes it's a riot letting your imagination run riot, other times? Try to reinterpret somebodies real life experiences into a fictitious scene.

Well, a first day has passed, and the results are in. My Gay Male story is now the second-lowest rated story of mine, which is fair - I didn’t really want to describe gay orgy anyway.

What came as a shock is that my “Amazing Japanese Cowboy” took a nosedive and is now my lowest ever rated story with 3.32/28, and not even a single comment describing why. I spent months planning it, trying to get fighting and sexual actions together in a movie-like way, so the result is disappointing. Well, it is what it is, I guess.

Readers don't know, care, or often consider how much work is put in a story. Quality of any media is subjective. Billion dollar movies bomb all the time. Your weeks, to months hard work could be anothers hungover, half asleep musings.
