How did you choose your avatar and username?

A year ago, when I started this thread, I tried to keep track of people I'd noticed who had not yet responded. After a while I gave up. So if your name isn't in this list, it's not necessarily because I haven't noticed you. Anyway, here's as far as I got. Everyone else is heartily invited to join in.

I updated my avatar because the old one looked too dark and muddy. Stainless steel looks better.

My Avatar, as any Brit should know, is the Wise Old Owl from Bagpuss. Quite what whim made me choose it to represent me on an erotoic story website currently escapes me. Especially as I'm not wise, I'm just old.

I recently changed my Avatar from my dog Duleigh to this confused looking dog, because that's how I feel at the moment. I just finished a huge project... now what do I write?
Duleigh the dog will be back when I get back on track.

I couldn't find a reference to an owl, but Wikipedia mentioned Professor Yaffle, a wooden woodpecker bookend.

My username is the translation of the old Anglosaxon meaning of my first name into Tolkiens elvish. The avatar is me sitting at my computer desk about forever and a day ago... I think it's from approx. 2004. I used to use a shot of the front of my jeans. I even cut up an old pair of jeans into strips and handed them out as bookmarks, autographed upon request, for one Romantic Times convention.

My avatar is from some picture on one of the old nudism sites that aren't around anymore. I chose it because it reminded me of a picture I had of me and a girlfriend, except that in the picture we were both clothed.

As for my username, it was actually selected by Athalia when we had started to write erotica and post it on the internet. She had decided to be Athalia, after a queen mentioned in the Bible. After I looked it up, I found that Jehoram was Athalia's husband (and I think there was a son by that name, too). She said, "If I'm Athalia, you can be Jehoram!" I didn't have a better suggestion, so Jehoram it was.

I'm Kellie, and the neighborhood I grew up in had a boy my age named Kelly. So it was just sort of a thing when I was growing up that adults would refer to us as "Kelly the boy" or "Kellie the girl".
So it's just shortened with z rather than the.

The avatar is Little Red Riding Hood, a reference to a long running joke from college.

What to write? Isn't this the point where Charles Dickens would say, "Time to write another 500 page novel." Actually, Bleak House is over 900. He must have been feeling ambitious with that one.

I'm just finishing a 700,000 word series (Andi's Dream). it's now a choice: Do I finish the Sci Fi novel (#2 of an 9 book series. 4, 5, and 6 are done. Sound familiar?) Begin the re-write of Stormwatch? Start on the Summer Fun story? The AI Era story? Or should I kick off the Romantasy series I've been mulling over? decisions, decisions

Well, I guess do what's already in progress, which is the Sci Fi novel. Maybe just make notes for the other stuff and get back to them. It's not like you're lacking in ideas. Does Summer Fun have a deadline?

Wow, a 700,000 word series. I have some overlapping series/stories but I doubt they are much over 100 K. I should count the pages just to see what I've done. I've got a prequel for another story that's probably going to be 2,500 words. Concise, I guess? :)

Wow, a 700,000 word series.
Andi's Dream is 19 chapters long (Chapter 20 due out soon) and 3 prequel stories, each averaging 30,000 words and it now sits at 665,177 words. Chapter 20 is still being written and is at 41k words. However, there are two other series that I've written that are connected. Stormwatch is ten chapters totaling 217,181 words and We're a Wonderful Wife is 14 chapters and 6 side stories at 477,396 words. Together the "Andiverse" is 1,359,754 words.

I'm a numbers geek, my wife believes that I write solely to have something to study in a spreadsheet.

It's a pun. My previous penname is 'Mynx' Scarlett Steele, so I named myself KittyOfSteele mostly as an inside joke with my ex because I'm a workout junkie. Even though I'm rebranding, I decided to keep my username because I like it.

As for my avatar, random pic I saw (and I liked) while listening to music on Youtube. I still want to make or commission my own, but I don't know what to put there.

I tried to respond to this, but I have to think more about it. I was going to say that you have other reasons besides the sheer numbers, but I'm not ready to speculate about those. Andi must fascinate you if you can write that many words about - it's a woman, right?

Andi is pure fantasy, she's both a mixture of people I know, but her personality is all her own, same as her husband Paul. Their story is a simple Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. Broke single mother of twins gets stuck in a blizzard. She's rescued by a bum that raises chickens, he turns out to be a millionaire who is a really nice guy, he just likes chickens. I started the story on a bet in 2018, then 12/23 I started posting what I made. Her friends and neighbors are followed closely by my readers and I get things like "When is Gus going to marry Lucy?" and "Why didn't Josh say anything to Veronica at the Christmas party?" Then this past November I posted a chapter where Paul was kidnapped and took a break leaving everything up in the air. The readers loved the cliff hanger but demanded I get back to work. It's a lot of fun to write but much of my work is like this - characters that the reader can like and cheer for.

Thanks, I wasn't sure of her gender with that name. I mentioned here that some writers are born novelists. Aren't all of Zola's novels interconnected? No, I haven't read all of them!

My original name here was drksideofthemoon

Due to bullying and other bs, I pulled all of my work and abandoned the drkside profile.

I came back as D K Moon, my profile pic is my left hand on my motorcycle.

I would've assumed Millie D had answered this.
