Given that income tax was supposed to be a temporary war funding measure, and such taxation constitutes theft, such a proposal is long overdue.

I wouldn't hold my breath though; government is rarely the type to leave people alone or stop taking their money once their hands are in the public pocket.

Americans spend $133 billion a year on tax preparation (not taxes, just filing) so a less burdensome alternative would be welcome. But Doddering Donnie probably wants to fully shift the tax burden to middle income earners.

A good place to start would be a tax on stock transactions. And a sales tax on the price of houses over $500,000.

I said it before and will say it again.
As for calling for congress to abolish... Trump did not. Proposed the solution to eliminate income taxes will take some time. As tariffs are applied the desired result is often quickly achieved. the process will take time to generate the stability of income to support the government. As well eliminating the nonsense spending of the previous congress also must be completed.
Hopefully the Federal government never taxes property. And we can eliminate property taxes by the states. It is possible. It was this way before 1910. Roosevelt eliminated tariffs and spent all the surplus cash on the Panama canal. That was when the income tax was first conceived in the US. After which continued over spending by government contributed to the depression in 1929.
