Brilliantly played, China.

In one swift move, the U.S. no longer leads the A.I. race and China makes the proposed investment look mega-inflated. No doubt this timing was deliberate. 🤣

DeepSeek's 'Sputnik moment' sparks rout in AI-linked stocks

LONDON/SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Investors hammered technology stocks on Monday, sending the likes of Nvidia and Oracle plummeting, as the emergence of a low-cost Chinese artificial intelligence model cast doubts on dominance of U.S. companies in this sector.

Startup DeepSeek last week launched a free assistant it says uses less data at a fraction of the cost of incumbent players' models, possibly marking a turning point in the level of investment needed for AI.

Top news story, all media outlets - including Conservative ones. Poor Deplorables! ☹️

If his brain wasn't so broken and he wasn't such egomaniac, things would be a lot better for everyone. Quit trying to be the bigliest and firstiest all the goddamn time.

Beat down? Can you be any more hyperbolic here?

The AI market is still figuring itself out. This is just a piece of that.

There’s going to be so much shit like this happening over the next four years.

This administration is hell-bent on rolling back transportation technology to the previous century. Electricity is our future because it is a clean, powerful, and versatile medium of energy storage and transmission.

Electricity can be used to deliver and to regenerate power for motive purposes - you can’t refill your gas tank by tapping on your brakes, you can’t provide the same instantaneous torque nor the granularity of control wit ICE as you can with electrical motors.

There are several new battery storage technologies still in testing and already being used in specific applications that don’t require rare-earth or toxic materials.

Other nations whose leaders are not bought and paid for by the Petroleum industry know that “Drill, baby drill” will only benefit a few selfish people for a few more years.

But MAGAs want to go backwards. They are intellectually embarrassing and seem to be doing everything they can to make sure the future of US manufacturing isn’t technologically competitive on the world market.

All true and awesome, and once the economics are worked out, the transition will happen regardless who's in power. The push needed is to make things like EVs more economical that ICE vehicles. Once that happens across the board, then it's just a matter of mass production and fleet replacement time frames.

Oil is still a monstrously huge portion of our current industrialized civilization, and we still need to fuel it. Especially if we want to transition to a new electric dominant model.

We are doing so more than we ever have before. Even before the current guy got the job

I was concerned at first when I saw this in the news this morning.
Then I see all the librals celebrating as if America is in decline and they can blame Trump.
The Dems are trying to revive fascism as well. This is all as anti-American as the dems personal attacks on the cabinet picks instead of verifying their knowledge to the task. Like Kaine in Virginia. How the hell is he even qualified to decide anything for the American people?

Sweet! Another MAGAT to make fun of.

Interesting.

So you don’t recognize that protection of the petroleum industry over new more advanced technologies is market manipulation? What sort of connection between billionaires and the levers of government is okay with you?

Do you see no conflicts of interest in this administration?

Coincidence? I think not.

Looks as though some people didn't like this news one bit... 😮

DeepSeek hit with large-scale cyberattack, says it's limiting registrations

The Chinese artificial intelligence startup has generated a lot of buzz as a fast-growing rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and other leading AI tools.

What 'new more advanced technologies' are being manipulated by petroleum?
What is the connection? I saw the last regime have connections with several foreign governments that was in no way okay with me.
No.

No.

Should the US go it alone? No allies needed?

Battery storage is one of the greatest frontiers of energy development. Whoever leads battery tech will lead with military robotics, with energy efficient transportation, with grid stability and energy source versatility.

Meanwhile we’re going back to black gold — to their emissions, regardless of the fact that peer-reviewed science overwhelmingly supports the theory that climate change is being exacerbated by human activity.

Do you still believe second hand tobacco smoke is harmless? Business interests spun the narrative around that for years, even using some of the same anti-scientific talking heads, meanwhile profiting off of death and disease and demanding that companies have the right to promote their toxic products to the American public.

For the money, of the money, by the money?
