Donald Trump is jacking up the price of coffee.

I grow roses and I don't eat chocolate.

🤣 :nana:
Yes, you grow your own roses like Matt Damon did on Mars and you make coffee like a prisoner does making wine from his cell - shit and toilet!
You are a lying fuck all around and a Nazi loving shill for trump from day 1. STFU

The US represents more than a quarter of Columbia’s exports. They’ve been accepting deportations from the US for years. Their president apparently got his panties in a bunch because the recent batches were sent in military planes. If wants to be baited into a trade war with his country’s biggest market, he’ll regret it. He can’t win. I’m betting this tiff blows over quickly.

Your argument applies perfectly to this other situation:

Canada and Mexico represent 33% of US exports. If Doddering Donnie wants to start a trade war with his country’s biggest markets, he’ll regret it. He can’t win.

Thanks for pointing out the dangers of Doddering Donnie’s tariff fetish!

There are other ways of expressing affection. The most precious gift anyone has to give is their time. Be thankful you have someone in your life that cares about you.
Ah, finally, you show your colors to be a graduate of the elon musk school of economics: Peopke may suffer necessary hardships in order for long term prosperity.

F’in clown. I’m really surprised that you hid your hand riding the fence trying to be independent to show that you’re an asshole trumper by telling people how to celebrate V-day.

Hmmm...somebody gave the baby a bottle pretty quick today and he stopped crying. wonder who gave it?
Okay you have a story with a dateline of 10:20 ET that claims the Trump-made Colombian dustup is over.
I was just about to post a CBS news update from 10:16 ET stating a sabre-wiggling Trump has now claimed he will make the coffee tariff FIFTY percent next Sunday evening if Colombia does not back down.

I'm also reading that the US has "made a deal" with El Salvador to take in any deported Colombians that the USA is unable to deliver to Colombia.

The agent of chaos is doing what he does best.

The price of coffee? Big fucking deal😠 I'll gladly pay more for coffee if it facilitates the removal of this cancer to clean up my beloved nation...... small price to pay😎

Isn’t this typical of these assholes here? Shame and mockery is the solution to interacting with fools like this one rather than to rationalize with someone relating that any form of cancer (cancer???!!!💩🤷‍♀️) is a small price to pay for anything. STFZU!

US businesses fuckhead.

US farmers who export their.gods, specifically soybeans.

You have ignored most of what I have said.

China.
I doubt very seriously any businesses will close because Colombians don't want to sell their coffee.
US farmers will not feel any burden or unburden if Colombians don't want soybeans.
Most or all of what you say does not make sense or is irrelevant.
Yea China needs oil. It will likely be refined in Texas before they buy it.

"Allowing us to attack our own individual states that unfairly tax property values." Attack our own states?! For their tax policies?!
Hell yes. If the federal tax is reduced or eliminated the states best get their act together. 5.75 state tax another 10%+ on my house Another on the cars... Too much. Specially as we are finding out just in my county alone the school district is spending over 6.5 million a year on DEI bullshit!

STFU.
I don’t have to follow up on any of the shit you were complaining about when you lie about a school district spending 6.5 million on DEI. Where da fuck in America do you live? What county?

I don’t think you understand how tariffs work? Please explain to me how you think they 1. Take the place of taxes and 2. Don’t cause an uptick in the price of the good tariffed?

Before you do let’s play a quick scenario out.

You sell me bricks at $1.00 each, but you live in Arizona and I live in Montana, Montana decides to protect its own brick companies by telling you that we’re adding .20 to each brick you send over ( to keep pricing competitive) are you taking the .20 haircut on profit or pass that on to me?

Secenario 2. After Montana has gone after your Arizona bricks, the Colorado bricks and the Washington bricks the cost to sell to Montana isn’t cost effective and those 3 states quit selling to Montana. How much tariff money does Montana receive out of Zero?

I don't think you understand tariffs. States and DC do not have the ability to tariff one another. There are costs states do apply as a deterrent to by out of state products I think. Not sure of an example.
Tariffs can easily cover the cost of what is the current federal tax. Thus replacing the federal tax we pay. With no federal tax the states should be able to manage their budget such that they do not need to over tax us on our property. Specially now with high loan rates the extra 460$ a month to cover the property taxes makes the property unattainable. Here 30 miles outside DC what should be a starter home is a 1450SqFt townhouse sale price 550k with a 5800$ tax bill. Not to mention the insurance. Not many houses for sale either. Everyone is keeping the low rate they have.
As the tariffs produce more income for the gov corporate taxes should reduce. Small business first. Further reducing consumer costs and increasing employee income which they pay little or no tax on.
Currently the tariffs you are so afraid of are passed to the foreign countries that should be paying them. In this thread the tariff is being used as a defense. The tariffs that will replace our federal income tax will be levied fairly while at the same time balancing the trade deficit between countries.

I rest my case.

Jesus you’re fucking retarded. It’s an example. I know states don’t tariff each others goods. Trying to make it make sense. Clearly isn’t understanding the point. Replace Montana with Canada and Arizona with Mexico. The states aren’t the point. Christ. The math is the point. Please read it slowly.

OMG!
I was just about to say this fool is getting his economics from the late 80s to early 90s and he actually, spit take… He then actually posts a link to the FairTax con. LMAO. I, lol, 😂 I can’t!
My bad… that’s Fairfax. 😢
I must apologize.
Eh… FairTax, Fairfax - he’s still full of shit.

I don’t know why I try but here goes.

Let’s take it one more step.

Now Arizona, Colorado and Washington are pissed about the brick tariff and they realize hey, we buy a shit ton of wood and wood based products from Montana. Welp, guess what Montana .20 tariff on all your wood products coming into our states. Uh-oh Montana wood products are now losing business because they are no longer competitive with Texas, Wyoming and Ohio wood. Bye bye Montana wood companies.

I am a progressive liberal socialist living in the red state of South Carolina. All of the fiscally concerned conservatives in my republican dominated state for decades now from Strom Thurmond to Nikki Haley have based the budget of this state directly from the largesse of tax accounted dollars given to us federally from states such as Massachusetts and California. STFU. Idiot!

It doesn’t matter if you explain this cogently, patiently on a state level scale or argue as how even conservative economists have on the global level or that we have already been through this with midwestern farmers and china his first time in office.

They. Do. Not. Get. It.

Ok here goes for the simpletons.

If it cost me 1.00 to make a widget and I sell that widget to you for 2.00 dollars. I make a profit of a dollar. You resale if for 3.00 so you also make a dollar and the consumer has paid 3.00 for the widget.

Now, trump says I’m going to add 20% tariff on top ( which I as the manufacturer would pay) so my cost of goods has gone up by .20 cents. So now it’s 1.20. So my profit drops to .80 cents. I’m not eating that, so your new cost is 2.20 now no fucking way your eating the new cost so the consumer now pays 3.20.

Who covered the cost of the tariff?
