That’s a Nightstalker MH-60. We haven’t exported that variant, though I can’t see any markings. As far as I know, they’ll not be deploying. Although I haven’t talked to my “connections” in while.
Well now, that was an extremely interesting, if depressing, read.
Russia as a country appears to have played the Trump team like a fiddle.
Putin took all of Trump's calls during the 2024 presidential campaign, lulling Trump into a false sense of security that they could "do a deal". Russia basically had two major demands, Ukraine will have their NATO application rejected AND Russia gets to keep all territory conquered to date. Trump's team immediately thought that was agreeable, seemingly incapable or unwilling to understand that Ukraine would never accept those terms.
After the election, prior to inauguration, Trump's team began to get intelligence briefing and things started to go downhill very quickly. Trump was still oblivious to reality though, because he and Putin had a "friendship". Trump honestly thought he could bypass all that unnecessary State Department bullshit because he (Trump) knew how to make a fucking deal, dammit.
So Trump simply picked up the phone and.....
.....Putin now refused to take Trump's phone call.
Evidently this was a first. Trump's team realized there was no way in hell an agreement could be reached "on Day One" so the spin machine sprang belatedly into action. Trump's Special Envoy to the Ukraine estimated it would take an intensive "100 day negotiation", State department professionals whispered "Six months minimum" and poor little Marco Rubio took a lot of heat as Secretary of State for refusing to commit to ANY line-in-the-sand timeline.
Then the other shoe dropped as sources in the Kremlin leaked that there were actually now ADDITIONAL "non-negotiable" demands by Russia as a condition of cease-fire, the terms have changed since Joe Biden is no longer president.
In addition to the two non-negotiables above, there were now these "poison pills" added to the existing conditions to really destabilize Ukraine.
1. The entire Ukraine executive branch must step down (in the name of "deNazification").
2. Complete dismantling of the Ukraine military (hey they got Ukraine to give up their nukes for a sack of magic beans years ago)
3. Removing that God damned state-of-the-art NATO Air Defense Artillery system from the eastern edge of Poland (I wrote about this little gem last week)
4. oh, and now Russia is demanding that Ukraine unilaterally cede land in the southern and eastern territories in Ukraine, that Russia has held no interest in before now, and has not been subjected to any warfare campaigns.
Trump blinked.
He asked..."and if I do agree to all of these terms....what do I get in return?".
Putin, in his best Michael Corleone impression, stuck the stiletto into Trump's girthy ribcage, "Nothing. We give you nothing".
I think this was the point when Trump realized how absolutely fucked his negotiating position was. Since this deal was rapidly wafting the stink of failure, Trump handed it over to Little Marco and the State Department to let them take the blame for failure.
Trump had to rewrite a portion of his Golden Age In America inauguration rant to talk bewilderedly about how he didn't understand why Putin all of a sudden wasn't willing to come to the negotiating table.
Not only that, but he's not offering the United States ANYTHING! Trump was confused and hurt by this betrayal of one of the few men in the world he openly admired.
Putin was playing chess all along while Trump thought they were playing checkers.
Checkmate, dotard!

Of course, that's what Trump wants, but Ukraine will be reasonable. Putin won't back down, and Ukraine will get what they need to beat up Russia,
2014 borders, including Crimea and reparations, war criminals handed over, etc. Membership of NATO, actual or defacto (the alt. is nukes)
Russia won't agree. Russia will be defeated. Russian Empire will disintegrate
Sentiments and "Trump was played" aside, I think a good summary. End result will be what I said before. Ukraine will get more weapons from Trump than they did from Biden and will win the war. Putin will eat a lead pill and the Russian Federation will disintegrate
Thankfully / reassuringly:
President Biden DID secure significant funding for Ukraine BEFORE the traitorous President Musk (and DonOld) took office, AND President Biden built an impressive alliance in Europe, etc that has adopted the policy of securing loans backed by frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s defense , so Ukraine DOES have a fair to good chance of emerging from this war a truly independent nation with legitimate security assurances / alliances and the REAL prospect of NATO & EU membership.
THANK YOU PRESIDENT BIDEN!!!
Slava Ukraini!!!

Whatever you're referring to there, I don't think Zelenskyy is glad of it. And I suspect Putin is very glad indeed.Personally I'm impressed by the way Trump and his team have adapted and changed their approach to Russia and Ukraine. They face reality head on, unlike Biden.
ALL USAID HAS BEEN BLOCKED....
We're gonna blow them to bits and pick it up at discount ratesSo why aren't we focusing on buying Russia? I think they'd be strategically important too.
This does not sound good. This is the type of corruption that has created a huge negative image for Ukraine to deal with, and now it's apparent that the Minster of Defence is deeply involved in perpetuatimg corruption rather than eliminating it. This is not good at all.
Sounds like Defense Minister Rustem Umerov needs to be fired and replaced. Zelensky needs to do a lot more ass-kicking.
