:O the first book is my favorite... it's raw, imaginative, unique, and has King's best opening line ever!

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

It's perfect! It sparks such curiosity; who's the man in black, who's the gunslinger, which one's the bad guy, what led up to this point?? I was hooked from the start.
