2025 MAGAt Presidency First Days / First Week in Office Insanity Thread

You know how to tell if a politician is lying?

His lips are moving.
Most politicians try to achieve the best for their electorate within their campaign strategies. Those strategies may or may not be misguided but historically it is an honest ambition.

Nixon broke the mold by lying to America and the world. Trump took it to a whole new level by basing his entire career even prior to running for office on falsehoods, and now grifts and lies are part of his DNA and it's sad that so many people are suckered into it. Those within the Republican Party who have resisted have largely been bullied into submission (see Graham, Cruz, Ramaswamy, DeSantis) and that's even worse. Shame on them.

He thought that Spain was in BRICS, was called out for being an ignoramus.

Now he's shut down the Spanish language version of the WH web site. Because the US does not have a national language but if you don't speak English you can go home.

Where will all those folders go? Into a filing cabinet, in this day and age? And, as ChloeTzang points out, all identical too. Hopefully they'll be placed in the filing cabinet with the titles "Withdrawing from the Useless WHO", "Freeing all those Patriotic Capitol-storming Victims of Injustice", "Kicking out Miguel Mex and his Amigos back to Spain and the other BRICS Nations", "Drill, Baby, Drill" etc. carefully written on the spine to help identify them.

Not that identification will be any better in the digital format, because all the files will start with "President John Donald Trump 47th POTUS - "Let's Get Fucking Started" Decree Number ...", a nightmare for anyone scrolling down a list.

Well, the good thing is, we actually HAVE a President again. For the last 4 years it's been a puppet standing there barely able to read a teleprompter

I must agree with Chloe on the "barely able to read a teleprompter" thing. I said a few months ago that I couldn't figure out, though, why the world's most powerful nation only had a choice between a mentally unstable old man with a dodgy family and a physically unstable old man with a dodgy family. Jesus. How does it come down to that? I don't know much, I admit, about Bernie Sanders, although I'm sure one of the US contributors will enlighten me, but he seemed vaguely reasonable to me. A bit too leftie for me, though. I'm not exactly your "Kill the poor and lower taxes" kind of person, but I think reasonable capitalism, if that exists, not wishy-washy pussyfooting, is the way to go.

I'm happy to have a President who is active and visibly leading again. It did annoy me that Biden was a lost puppy at times

RobDownSouth Bold Prediction #3: The above post will not age well.
How exciting for you.

I am not suggesting that he should be seen or that his comments are always important.

My comment is literally a comparison between the previous President and the first few days of the current President.

  1. It IS quite exciting! (I'm practicing gratitude this year)
  2. Thank you for clarifying your remarks, I will now sleep much better tonight.
  3. Classic "bread and circuses". I'm more of a "bread" guy. Nothing wrong with "circuses" though, unless your job is sweeping up after the elephants.

Let's hope the betting markets pick up on your predictions. 👍

Political betting markets are such flaky things.
I went to place a wager on "Trump having a cerebral aneurism before the mid-terms" and it disappeared an hour later.
I've still got 3:1 odds on the inevitable Trump-Musk public fallout not later than March 31st, 2025.
All Vivek action (except his governor run) has been suspended.
Sadly, no action whatsoever on Melania public wardrobe malfunction.

That sounds neat

The political tides led us to our current President.

Probably if you had a different prediction, some introspection is in order.

The opening salvo of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's "No Cunts In Command" initiative has been fired.

The Commandant of the Coast Guard, 4 star Admiral Linda Fagan was removed from command for cause 90 days prior to her planned retirement date, prematurely ending an otherwise stellar career in the name of Trumpian political expediency.

The cause, you ask? Possession of a uterus.

Her replacement will be a white man with white hair that looks straight out of central casting.
I hope it didn’t cost her her retirement benefits like they tried to do to that guy days before his retirement in his first administration. Was simply mean spirited

Indeed, it was not a malfunction that she dressed up in the Hamburgler costume for the inauguration-- she did that on purpose.

Donald McRonald directed her to be Hamburgler as part of his circus.

You're an insufferable and humorless dick.

It will age just fine. I would wager that most lit posters can read between the lines. Showing leadership doesn't mean you agree with policy it just means that someone is out front leading for all to see. Transparency is a thing.

LOL. With 200 of them to go through and sign? In identical folders? LOL. Making thigs up again.
He was aware of what each one contained and was going to sign all of them anyway, so to criticize the order of signature is just ZUMI being petty, like usual.

I don't care whether it ages well.
