Escape room undressing

I'm making a story where a highly competitive woman, veteran of many escape rooms, enters an escape room build a friend. The friend has made it so it'll turn more sexual. We follow the woman's internal thoughts about the events unfolding. She quickly realises what is expected, and she wants to 'win' by playing along and denying him in the end.

I'm a little stuck on how to get her to undress though. I would like something creative that fits within the escape rooms. So far there's the following.

The guy has made the escape room look as if they are locked in by a nefarious party, requiring them to escape before the time runs out. She has been supplied with clothes 'for immersion of the story', which are allowed to be ripped or broken without angering the woman for loss of her property. Escape rooms also supply you with all the items needed to escape, so the clothes are part of how to escape.

First they are stuck in a hallway, where the two cameras need to be covered by her bra to get out. The next hallway is suddenly filling with water, allowing the man to take of his shirt and block the flow (and getting them sodden in the process). I would like to have some 'proper' escape room after, which requires part of or her whole dress (or other clothes. It isn't set in stone). The requirements are that it needs to be (semi-)natural, and part of the tasks. She needs to realise this on her own.

The best I've some up with is that they need to hang weights from a device in an exact amount (her weight, supplied on the badge as part of her costume). The dress can easily be ripped into strips to hang them. Even though it is fantasy, I feel this is too unnatural, or I just can't write it in a plausible way. That leads me to the question for more ideas:

For what escape room mechanism would a highly competitive woman, already having come to the conclusion she will make him beg for her body and deny him, (partially) undress in an escape room as part of a task?

Maybe she needs to tie strips of her dress together to make a long rope for something? Could have them rip off the lower part of her dress, exposing her legs, strip by strip, trying the rope over and over until she’s left with only her panties, but the rope is still a little too short.

I did a lot of escape rooms in my life.
I have been in 15 escape rooms in the last 2 years, failed 2 (first 2 I did), completed 13, 2 of which I completed without any hints from the guide. So I hope my knowledge on escape rooms can help you a bit:

Something that is use A LOT in escape rooms are magnets.
I think it's a shame that she already used her bra, since there are bra's that have magnetic clasps, which gives a ton of possibilities, like it needs to be placed somewhere to open a secret door or she needs to use them to get a key out of a drain pipe.

Another thing used a lot is mirrors, usually to deflect some kind of laser. Maybe they need to use the guy's belt buckle to deflect a laser to a certain direction to open op a door or a safe. But now nothing is holding up the pants that are way too big for him.

I also want to add that no escape room would flood a room, that's a safety hazard. I would change it so they do need to block a drain pipe, but that causes the water to flow into a different pipe and when that is filled up a key with a floating key chain will float to the top of that pipe. (One of the escape rooms I did had this, except we didn't have to use our clothes to block it obviously.)

For the dress, it may sound boring, but having tear lines on them so it can be easily ripped apart into pieces and having a table that outlines each seperate piece makes sense, when placed correctly a code will become visible that unlocks a door or a safe or something. This feels very much in line with a real escape room.

The underwear maybe something like they enter a bedroom, there are 2 mannequins sitting in 2 chairs pointing towards the bed. Laserbeams are shining out of their eyes. They have to block those laserbeams (block the 'sight' of the mannequins.) Comparing this to actual escape rooms, well it is a bit far fetched, but entirely possible.

Finally you could do something with the bed in bedroom. Maybe the bed is small and they both need to get on to put enough weight on the bed to activate a pressure plate. Both naked they need to climb on top of each other on the bed to open the final door.

I think the most unrealistic thing about the idea is the destruction of the clothes, because that means the organization needs to provide new clothes for each participant. I don't think any escape room would do that, but in the end it's still a story, so I think it's fine. You could make the Escape room on the more expensive side to compensate for this.

I hope this helps, good luck.

I like the idea of a rope. The most obvious is to need to go from one level to another, like a safety stairs on the outside of a building minus the stairs. It also still gives me the opportunity to play with how much of her skin is exposed. I'll take that idea as one of the options. Thanks!

A pattern is a good one. Nightscream posted something similar after you. It I'll have to think of a way for her to realise it and use it. Jotted down in the book of options!
I would put it in a riddle.

"Inside the cover of your shame lies the naked truth. There you will find your answer."
Is what I would probably go with.

This would make them realize it's the inside of their clothes and they discover the weird markings inside her dress.

I appreciate the big post. The story isn't finished yet, so the bra part can still be moved and magnets added.

Mirrors are a great idea though. Maybe sequins or those tiny mirrors incorporated in the dress. They might come off separately, and drastically reduce the integrity of the dress. That can immediately give the 'lines for ripping' in the dress more credence, as you remove some lint with the sequins. I wouldn't worry too much about how much it costs though. It is described as something incredibly cheap for this very reason, and with the fast fashion fad you can get some bulk low quality just good enough for wear goods for little. Not to mention you can get people to pay more for a unique experience. (It is also revealed at the end that the highlights that other escape rooms have, based on general excitement and then automatically created, has been applied in this one as well.)

The flooding is overstated, though always a hazard as you point out. In the story it is more a scare where initially a lot of water drops from one end, never reaching much higher than their knees. A pipe keeps gushing in water, but in reality it won't rise much higher than that. Even though it doesn't really feature in the story that was my head cannon. It can still be a hazard, but much less than really flooding a room. I appreciate your thoughts on it though. I might not have thought about it.

I have something for the bed already, though that wasn't needed for the lead up. I'm still curious. They need to do the deed without being seen by the mannequins?

I know I've said it already, but I'm blown away by the quick and plentiful suggestions. I appreciate your thoughts.

Have no ideas to supplement, but thus premise is interesting. Post the link here when you'll finish.
I'll do that. Just know that I'm a slow writer, and I've only recently discovered Lit. It definitely is a higher standard than what I usually write that I love to try to adhere to.

I love escape rooms, and I love this premise 😅😍

Here's a twist on the idea, though. What if the two people are hardcore competitive escape room fanatics, who excel at breaking room mechanics to bypass puzzles and beat room records.

There's a notoriously difficult room in town, so hard that there's a cash reward for beating it under a certain time limit. The friends decide that they're going to crack this room and win the prize, no matter what it takes.

Instead of the puzzles being designed to use their clothing, they use their clothes to bypass puzzles in unexpected ways.

(You'd have to really think through and design some good puzzles and scenarios to make this satisfying!)

They're making good time and are on track to beat the room, but they're getting increasingly horny as they get more and more naked. Maybe they have to squeeze together in a crawlspace or tight corner.

By the end of the session they're completely nude, uncontrollably horny, and end up failing the room because they can't stop themselves from fucking right then and there. The clock runs out and the room attendant has to open the door and let them out... but they are in flagrante delicto and ask to pay for more room time🤣

Sounds like you've got your new story cut out for you ;)

I like that premise, but I'll stick with the current one. I'm writing slow enough without changing the overarching story. Maybe in due time I'll get around to the idea though. We do sync on some ideas, as there will definitely be a small area where during a task they have to squeeze past each other, culminating in her crawling first through the 'exit hallway', so he has to crawl after her.

I thought of 2 more ideas for your story:
First about the dress, an idea that would make sense to me and is usable in a lot of different ways is a layered dress, with each layer held to each other with velcro. A dress like this:

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3d/54/3e/3d543ef4dc7aa9df70d3e4149fca3cb1.jpg

Maybe with some more layers, but each layer could be used for a certain puzzle, making it shorter and shorter untill she has to use the top part for something. If it's hold together with Velcro it would also make the dress re-usable for the organization.

Second is, I don't know if you have thought about the location of the escape room yet.
I have been to a lot of escape rooms that are themed around their location, for example I have been to a location that's an old monestary, the three escape rooms there are all themed around the monestary and the myth of bloody Mary. Those rooms are amazing.

So maybe the escape room in your story could be located in an old abandoned strip-club? Where you can use the stage, stripper poles, stripper cages, dressing rooms and of course the champagne rooms as a setting?

Just some ideas I thought you may like.

Maybe a lever that opens a door when held in just the right position... but it's on the opposite side of the room. As soon as you let go of the lever to exit, the door closes before you can get through it.

Fortunately, her undies or bra are just the correct amount of elastic to hold the lever in the right position.

I was in one that had an "escape from prison" theme. Perhaps there's a gate that will only open for guards (there's a camera?). You need the guard's passkey, but, also need to strip out of your clothes and put on the guard uniform to get through.

Also... some have a physical element to it... climbing around a wall, etc. What if there was a tight squeeze you had to get through (that tightened based on your actual size so it worked for everyone). But, the walls were velco-like... and would grab onto your clothing, preventing you from getting through without stripping down?

Perhaps there's some machine that takes tokens or money to work. Conveniently, buttons from her blouse are JUST the right size to work...

Similarly, maybe she's wearing something with a tie or bow... and a string is needed to get past an obstacle.

You're making it difficult to write if you come up with great ideas. Today I was rewriting part of it. Laser pens in a special base. Need little mirrors to bounce them set into something else. These are on the dress, and rippimg them off takes a lint from the dress to make it easy to rip. Every second mirror is attached too securely. When the right pattern is on the wall, there is a demand for a dance in the laser beams, which incidental moving of the laser beams across the room triggers sensors. She wholeheartedly commits for the most seductive dance.

The layered dress is a good one, allowing a layer for redirection, and several for code breaking or even keeping things in place.

The location so far is 'generic industry area', as those areas are cheap. There could just as well be a strip club there, now sold for cheap because of zoning laws being enforced or it made too much of a ruckus. That does give a lot of props, and an excuse to talk about erotica early in the story. The escape room they are in is new, as they already have several.

Bloody Mary was one of the escape rooms referenced in an early draft, though now you've stirred my memory why. I've never been to Amersfoort for it, but we have checked it out as a possible location at one point. Maybe I should go and fulfill @PennyThompson her(?) fantasy.

Though not her panties and bra, the lever could be dine with the layered dress Nightscream suggested. The buttons go into the options as well. The dress is not set in stone, so a layered blouse with buttons and pants are still on the table.

I've given her the clothes as part of the escape room aesthetics, which felt natural. Though I might find a place for changing clothes instead. With an old police station, convent or strip club you can have plenty of themed outfits strewn about, as well as convenient rooms and strange lay-outs.

10/10 would recommend going to Bloody Mary in Amersfoort, me and my group did Bloody Mary there first and then went back a second time for Soup du jour and Poppet. Thematically it's amazing, puzzles are well thought out and challanging (Can't recall a single actual lock in there, everything done through mechanisms.) They aren't easy, but if you have some experience with escape rooms and a decent group, should be able to complete them.
I do believe they told us that Poppet is temporary, since they space they use for that isn't actually their space and is planned to be sold off, so if you want to do that one, I would 100% go sooner rather than later.

The story of the escape rooms runs through all three, so I would do them in order (Bloody Mary, Soup du Jour, Poppet). Honestly could do them all in one day with short breaks, that would probably be an amazing experience.

A sci fi theme could have some sort of "scanner" that detects any non-organic material... and doesn't let them pass?

Aside from simply getting her clothes off, some physical challenges could put them in interesting physical positions.

What if the scanner is color or heat sensitive and the solution to get past it is for the team to use some sort of body paint. They would each have to apply it to the other to get all the hard-to-reach spots.

Maybe there's a guard that does rounds that they need to hide from (before getting the uniform?). The only place to hide is a locker that they figured out how to open... so they both have to squeeze into the same locker to avoid detection.

Or, maybe a little crawl space they discover under the floor... just enough room for a person... but... if there's more than one, they need to be laying on top of each other.

Or something up high that requires someone on the other's shoulders.

Even without providing them with special themed clothing... you could have something that's weight-based. Maybe a scale that the more you put in it, the better a score you get? Or the less uncomfortable or unpleasant the next step is? So, there's a handful of items in the room, but, a competitive person would quickly add their shoes... and more?

What if a big water park decided it would be cool to add and escape room to the park? That would put water on the table. And start some or all participants in bathing suits?

What if the theme is based on a tropical location or cruise ship? Maybe a mystery on a cruise ship? At some point our heroes need to “blend in” which requires changing into bathing suits. There are changing rooms but someone competitive might forgo the small changing rooms For a better time.

Your going to hate me for bringing this up now, if the layers of the dress would be held together with metallic clips, wouldn't those clips be reflective enough to bounce a laser off them? xD

Also, if you decide to go with the 'abandoned stripclub' setting, you could centre this part around the stripper pole, turning the dance into a pole dance.
