A general at least of some experience but a guy with a book is in charge of the most advanced military in the world? This bit of "might makes right" sowed the seeds that resulted in the rise of the mullahs.

The Washington Cathedral is ringed along the top of the structure with gargoyles and grotesques, which is very common in that style of architecture. (Gargoyles spout rooftop rainwater away from the building, grotesques do not).

Fun fact: When a grotesque was damaged and needed to be removed in 1980, a public contest was held as to what type of "replacement monster" should be installed a replacement. When word got out that the grotesque was situated on the "dark side" of the cathedral that seldom if ever saw sunlight, the public vote was overwhelming....

Still, my point stands.

The "National" Cathedral was approved to be built in our nation’s capital by racists, misogynists, and bigots in government who were mostly (if not all) white male "Christians".

I’ll take it even a sttep further and say that I would have zero problem with the entire cathedral being torn down or renamed and repurposed to exclude official government sanctioned / related events.

I wonder what the reaction from the right wing Christo-fascist racists would be if the decision was made to tear down the "National" cathedral or rename it and prohibit any government related ceremonies from being held within it.







The Capitol rotunda is the appropriate place for official government recognition of a fallen president; full stop. The Capitol of the United States (Washington D.C.) should NOT have an association with ANY religion or religious activity, imho.
