Our justice system is fundamentally necessary to maintain our democracy. It, of course, has always been flawed.

When one of those flaws is that wealth allows for a President to be convicted of these types of felonies and be legally shielded by his position, it's end-game. How does any judge in this country who hands down punishments to non-wealthy citizens maintain that they're presiding over a fair system?

It's time for us to stop pretending we still have a democracy.

He avoided serving the time and paying the costs associated with it, which was noted to reflect deference to his ambition of becoming the next President. That's the shame of this situation. General Deterence and Specific Deterence.

The damage was done during the trial. Several reversible errors, constitutional due process violations and a Judge who was judicially and politically compromised could eventually lead to a mistrial. We'll see.
