Interesting trivia: Julius Caesar was not born by caesarian section. We know that because it is a matter of historical record that his mother Aurelia lived to a ripe old age. The first recorded c-section the mother survived was done in the 16th Century by Jakob Neufer, a Swiss pig gelder who used his gelding tools to cut open his wife after the doctors had given her up. See The American Way of Birth, by Jessica Mitford.

The c-section is called that because of the Lex Caesaria, a Roman law providing that a woman dying in late pregnancy could be cut open to save the baby. The law might have been authored by one of Caesar's ancestors -- it was Roman custom to name legislation after the statesman who proposed it.

Asian women with smaller birth canals who marry white men have babies with larger heads and require more frequent c-sections. The evolution of the birth canal has not kept up with interracial birth over the last century.
