First of all, buy, purchase, a contract between willing parties.

1. The US has had a continuous military presence in Greenland since 1941.

2. Denmark was, is, and will continue to be incapable of protecting their interests in Greenland.

3. If, as the hand wringing bed wetters insist, that the Arctic ice is going to all melt then the Arctic Ocean is going to become a major oceanic trans-shipment body of water. Those waters will need to be patrolled to protect from parties that would want to control those sea lanes for their own purposes. Two not so friendly powers, Russia and China, have designs on the Arctic and Canada, with their 50 canoe Navy, just isn't up to the task.

Purchasing Greenland from Denmark makes perfect sense if you think long term. Remember, a lot of people made fun of Jefferson with his "Louisiana Purchase" and "Seward's Folly", the Alaskan purchase.

No.

Your only reasoning for even considering it is because your idol suggested it.

You're finding a reason to defend his bullshit.

Again

In reality, you don't give a shit either way

If he told you we should annex Thailand, you'd spend time rationalizing it.

When Trump brought this up in his first term, the Danes had no interest in selling, the Greenlanders had no interest in being Americans, and few Americans saw any point to the whole thing.

“Greenland again tells Trump it is not for sale”

World’s Biggest Island, Greenland.

The USA is little.

We can use Hawk Tuah's Bitcoin and all the money trump stiffs contractors for to pay for it.

You guys hate the trans community, but don't mind castrating your nuts in service of trying to rationalize the constant stupidity of trump.

I mean even you had to know what you were about to hit send to some Pete Hegseth drunk.

The U.S. already has plenty of mines and plenty of fisheries. What else is Greenland good for?

Nobody made fun of the Louisiana Purchase.

They did of Seward's Folly -- but Alaska was at any rate open for white American settlement -- to the Russians Alaska was only a source of sea otter fur, so they never heavily colonized it and there was no Russian population to speak of at the time of sale.

Greenland, on the other hand, already has just about all the population it can support. If we annexed it, there would not be any wave of new settlers.

The thought did cross my mind that global warming is probably going to open up a lot more of its land for settlement...then I remembered the people who support buying Greenland don't believe in global warming!

It's just a matter of price. :D
