Concerns for outgoing Republican leader Mitch McConnell’s health are bubbling up again.

Punchbowl News’s John Bresnahan just reported that McConnell fell after GOP senators ate lunch and is currently receiving medical treatment. Medical staff also reportedly came in with a wheelchair.

Supposedly Thune is a big-time proponent of big business. Not so much on social issues. He'll back the dotard on any and all business-related legislation, but is a question mark right now on public funding of Christian schools, death penalty for homosexuals, etc.

The Senator is well aware of his failing health and is already taking measure for the smooth transition of power into a new administration and paradigm shift. His day, my day, is over. The dinosaur is being replaced by the quick and agile mammal and the Republican Party is collecting quite a cadre of the young, quick and ambitious. I wonder what will become of them and how many of them will fall prey to power until the day comes when they are the Democratic Phoenix in Nero's ashes? Time will tell.

Master of Senate rules and skilled at herding cats. Kept Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court and got Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett plus dozens of district and appellate judges over the finish line. Not an easy feat with a spectrum of Republican senators as conservative as Mike Lee, Mike Braun and Rand Paul, and as liberal as Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Mittens Romney. Shepherding the TCJA through the Senate was an equally Herculean task. It would have been easier job if Trump hadn’t made primary endorsements for some obviously weak candidates like Hershel Walker.

He was a master parliamentarian but he's in bad health and past his legislative prime. I think Mike Lee is his superior both on the legal and parliamentary level. McConnell opposed Trump everywhere he could do so politically and I believe he's compromised Vis-à-vis his family business relationship with China. Just my opinion.

Yes. He will try to fuck up the agenda the majority of Americans voted for but he'll have a much harder row to hoe this time around.

He hasn’t always done what Trump wants but he’s been a steady and wise leader who played a leading role in the successes in Trump’s first term. I don’t think there’s any issue with his wife’s family business ties, but do agree his age and health are becoming serious enough for him to consider stepping down. He’s already turned over the leadership reins to an experienced younger Senator in John Thune. He’s got 3 more years to go in his current term. If he can’t perform his committee chair duties and stay healthy, yeah, he should resign.

I supported him for years but over those years I discovered some things I didn't like and my support waned. Senator Thune is a RINO and has had a rocky relationship with Trump. I think he will stand in the way of Trump's agenda to clean-up the administrative state, that said I'm willing to give him a fair chance to prove me wrong. I wonder if J.D. Vance, as President of the Senate, will take a more active role in day to day procedure than normal.

No one is concerned about his health. Republicans are just as bad as Democrats when it comes to lip service about elder care. I’m shocked his family cares so little about him that they would allow this to happen. All of these elderly infirm politicians need to go. Trump needs to the last of the old guard and there should be mental competency tests required going forward as well as age limits. Mitch could have fallen and died, his family should be ashamed.

There should be a mandatory retirement age of 70 for all federal officials, including judges and members of Congress.
