Polio had increased almost tenfold from 1938 to 1943 within the United States.

The March of Dimes was instrumental in funding polio vaccine research that culminated in the introduction of the Salk-Sabin polio vaccine in 1955.

The last recorded case of polio in the United States was in 1979.

Worldwide, there were somewhere around a grand total 20 or so cases of polio, limited to Afghanistan and Pakistan if I recall.

Now we're on the cusp of the installation of a prominent anti-vaxxer, RFK Jr, as titular head of the American Health and Human Services. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been instrumental in distributing the polio vaccine worldwide.

Kennedy, a jacknape political hack, never met a vaccine he didn't like. The crass politicization by the extreme right wing to opt=out of vaccinating children as a "testament to freedom from government control" today does not bode well for the overall health of Americans in general.

Make sure you get any updates needed for vaccinations for yourselves and especially your children this month, folks.
