The hate keeps you warm at night. Red Dawn.

She has to lean back lest she be dragged into the water by the weight of her "water wings."

I'm not sure that our haters do it well enough to get much warmth from it, so they make it up in impotent volume.

Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay but up too early. So it goes. Wash is on, a couple of wee chores are knocked out, the grocery list for shopping is getting finalized, and coffee is getting the opportunity to do its thing. The mower may get it's springtime first crank-up of the season. There are a couple of things which can be loaded for road tripping. The work truck needs some cleaning out attention, too. And there is some paperwork to look into also.

Basically, the fun never stops.

All the faults of our mind – our selfishness, ignorance, anger, attachment, guilt, and other disturbing thoughts – are temporary, not permanent and everlasting. And since the cause of our suffering – our disturbing thoughts and obscurations – is temporary, our suffering is also temporary.

-Lama Zopa Rinpoche

When every hope is gone, 'when helpers fail and comforts flee,' I find that help arrives somehow, from I know not where. Supplication, worship, prayer are no superstition; they are acts more real than the acts of eating, drinking, sitting or walking. It is no exaggeration to say that they alone are real, all else is unreal.

~ Mahatma Gandhi, The Story of My Experiments With Truth

Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart.

Found by accident an anvil book I had never seen before, for sale locally, and for cheap. Within 2 hours, I was home with it and short the few dollars that she asked for it. Deal!!!

Edward Hopper (Yellow and Red)

By W. S. Di Piero

Soiled sunshine on lawns and walls,
the horizon-line melancholy,
the mystery cults of interiors,
the parlor, bedroom, luncheonette,
the worship of empty spaces,
the scummed-over good cheer
of brickface and clapboard.

Our optimism’s a darkening soul
that doesn’t know the dark is coming.
The windows inflect an ethic of the watched,
the overseen, the secretive: the hidden lives
of architectures, the boxcars, factories,
variety stores, and gabled homes
where life went silent a moment ago.

A woman’s Coca-Cola-red pumps,
a moralistic lighthouse, a feral Buick grill,
the arid creamy bumpy wet light.
Our godless churchy solemnities.
Austerity’s rapture. Each of us unreachable.
Wind and sand our silenced voluptuaries.
A woman in a slip on a plank of the sun.

Being Alive

By: D.H. Lawrence

The only reason for living is being fully alive;
and you can’t be fully alive if you
are crushed by secret fear,
and bullied with the threat:
Get money, or eat dirt! —
and forced to do a thousand mean
things meaner than your nature,
and forced to clutch on to possessions
in the hope they’ll make you feel safe,
and forced to watch everyone that
comes near you, lest they’ve
come to do you down.

Without a bit of common trust
in one another, we can’t live.
In the end, we go insane.
It is the penalty of fear and meanness,
being meaner than our natures are.

To be alive, you’ve got to feel a
generous flow, and under a
competitive system that is impossible, really.
The world is waiting for a new great
movement of generosity,
or for a great wave of death.
We must change the system,
and make living free to all men,
or we must see men die,
and then die ourselves.

Happy Monday!!! Back to the grind today. Got some stuff done this weekend and kinda got rested up. It's a four-day week this week. We got Friday off from the merciful hands of the wheels, and that's funny that they called it a Spring Mental Health Day because it's also Good Friday and would have been a day off on the old job. Funny mentioning that as today is the one year anniversary of walking out of there and not looking back.

Coffee first . . . .

In the same way that rain breaks into a house with a bad roof, desire breaks into the mind that has not been practicing meditation.

Buddha taught: If today you choose to be kind to others, tomorrow you will receive all the kindness in life. Cause and effect is fair, nothing is lost.

That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the task itself has
become easier, but that our ability to perform it has improved.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.
