The Biden Impeachment Could Be Coming...and We Can Thank Merrick Garland

Matt Vespa | August 24, 2023 1:45 PM

The August recess is almost over, and House Republicans have no choice but to start impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. They’ve been forced into this action, though one could argue that it was veering into the realm of inevitability. Attorney General Merrick Garland can be thanked for setting this into motion with the appointment of David Weiss as special counsel for the Hunter Biden investigation.

Weiss is the US attorney who got blocked by higher-ups when he tried to file charges against Hunter Biden. He also allowed some of the most egregious tax violations to lapse under the statute of limitations. It’s a fixed investigation that isn’t considered a “special counsel” probe since Weiss isn’t an outside arbiter.

Also, the scope of the investigation shields Joe Biden from legal scrutiny for his alleged involvement in his son’s sordid business deals. Weiss’ appointment also prevents him from testifying before House Oversight concerning the president’s son, especially the “unholy mess” that unfolded during the proceedings surrounding Hunter Biden's plea agreement. With the roadblocks up, an impeachment inquiry is the only tool left to shatter these obstacles. Law professor Jonathan Turley has more:

It’ll all be sorted as soon as MTG and Lauren Boebart settle their little spat.

Its a sham to get McCarthy immunized against the Freedom Caucus. It will recieve no coverage from the so called media and the R's will be attacked for the sham.

Unless something drastic happens to change the dynamic, impeachment and removal won't happen unless the R's retake the Senate and Brandon get reelected. There are just too many Dems and Rinos to make it anything more than political theater and the people aren't going to stand for that.

I don't think that is likely to happen. I mean I know we live in a "both sides do it" universe but if Joe gets re-elected and then impeached the optics will be terrible. I can't see how the Republicans would get around what would be completely spitting in the face of the voters. Though some of them are crazy enough to do it.

I'd welcome their efforts to do so!

I'm not sure how much dumber the Republican party can make itself look at this point, but they might top themselves if they give this a try. 🤣

Turley sold out to Faux News a long time ago. These days he spends most of his time on Twitter (er, X) entertaining wet dreams about Hunter Biden.

It's no wonder he appeals to Rightguide.

They would need probable cause to impeach Biden. "Probable cause" would have to be more than just "Oh, he's not doing enough to wall off the border!" or "Oh, but his son had some shady dealings" or "We just don't agree with him on this or that." That's not enough for impeachment.

Probable cause for impeachment would have to be something like, oh, for example, trying to overturn an election that he lost and illegally seize power. Or stealing classified documents that threaten national security. Something no decent president, certainly not Biden anyway, would ever think of.

On the other hand, if Biden WAS impeached, then Kamala Harris would become president. I'm sure Rightguide and the Hisarpy/Chobham/Icanhelp guy would probably prefer that, then? Or no; they'd probably invent some other random frivolous reason to go after Kamala Harris, then. ("Her cousin knew a guy who smoked crack once!! IMPEACH KAMALA!!")

Can you find ANY legit sources?? Ever?

Ohhhhhh they have “no choice”… you have got to get a hobby.

Amazing there is that much realistic political fiction out there- we already have the propaganda network, but it runneth over.

Maybe a book series is in order. You seem like a “Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” kind of guy. Plus when you have to explain it to others, it shouldn’t be overly complicated. You do have trouble with that.

Lol. Joe Biden is 7 years beyond his life expectancy and can barely walk or talk coherently. He’s got bigger worries than an impeachment.
And your guy can’t seem to not sound more like anything than a bobble head puppet- get those one liners out there, doesn’t matter if it is even close to the question. His isn’t age, he is just past his reach. The sunshine state is all the further he can do.

The Republicans wouldn't be trying to impeach Biden had Trump not tried getting Russia, China and Iran to dig up dirt on Biden during the campaign in 2020. Trump got impeached once for abuse of power for trying to withhold approved militatry aid to Ukraine because Zelensky would not help him. Tee Republicans are going after revenge, nothing else. The true Republican party is dead thanks to the loser Trump.

Odds favor the sunshine state keeping its popular Governor for the remainder of his second term. And Biden has bigger things to think about than an impeachment, like finding a good nursing home where he can be comfortable for the short time he has remaining in his life.

Yeah, less popular Governor. Turns out not doing well nationally has hurt him on the home front too.

But he’s still your little Nazi. You keep backing him!

Despite the sentiments of liberals like you, the popular governor of Florida was re-elected by a 19 point margin just nine months ago.

Hmmmm and how does he stand now? More and more conservatives have come out against him in the state. They are finally seeing the Nazi qualities in him that make you like him so much.

Bring Florida to America is seen in Florida as being us some America here to Florida. Going bankrupt to have insurance isn’t exactly helping Nazi Ron.
