Pairing e-mail story text with online submission question

Hi all,

The search menu doesn't work from my phone so this has probably been asked before.

I have submitted my first story through e-mail since I wasn't able to upload it directly via the online form. From the Lit help page, it says they can pair it up with my online submission if I give them the identical title, etc. This is where my question is. Do I leave my online form in draft mode or do I need to go further into the submit and publish part in order for them to pair it up? Does it matter?
