Minnesota Governor Signs ‘One Minnesota Budget’ as Democrats Celebrate Their Top Goals Becoming Law

As hundreds of people cheered on the lawn around him, Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz signed a document to symbolize the passage of his $72 billion “One Minnesota Budget”

The wide-reaching set of measures includes funding for: free school meals to children, free tuition at public colleges for students whose families earn less than $80,000 a year, a paid family and medical leave program, health insurance regardless of immigration status, gun violence prevention, abortion rights protections, voting rights expansion and more.

Other measures in the newly signed budget bills include: a child tax credit that will provide up to $1,750 per child to families with low incomes; increased funding for schools to boost resources; climate resiliency grants to help people prepare for extreme weather and upgrade old infrastructure; and improvements to roads, bridges and electrical vehicle infrastructure.

Republican House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth, of Cold Spring, said in an interview that the One Minnesota Budget is more like a “One Democrat Minnesota” budget, because it does not represent a unification of both parties.

Minnesota Votes to Legalize Marijuana as Democrats Press Liberal Policies

Democrats, who took control in St. Paul, have moved forward with a long list of plans, including expanding abortion rights and offering driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.

Despite having only a one-seat majority in Minnesota’s Senate, Democrats have moved swiftly to push through a pile of liberal legislation that made this year’s lawmaking session among the most productive and polarizing in recent history.

Minnesota legislators have codified abortion rights, funded school meals for all children, set a goal to transition entirely to clean energy by 2040 and allowed unauthorized immigrants to get driver’s licenses.

Lawmakers expanded voting rights by allowing an estimated 55,000 felons the ability to cast ballots and by automatically registering people to vote when they get a driver’s license or sign up for government programs.

And that's the reason we have separate states, breeding grounds for ideas. Now we get to see the consequences of those ideas.

I know the consquences of feeding children is a mystery to right wing conservatives I'm glad to see you're willing to give it a shot.

Socialists up the ante!

UAW local 12 does naught to broaden the strike of Clarios vehicle battery makers.

Clarios has plants in the US, Germany, South Korea, China and other countries.

The world socialist web site had published a call for all Clarios workers everywhere to build strike support committees and to stand in solidarity with striking US workers.

Socialist Equality Party [German section] supporters have met with Clarios workers, and they declared solidarity with striking Clarios workers in Toledo, Ohio.

Clarios employs some 16,000 workers in 56 plants worldwide, and produces third of the world’s vehicle batteries today.

A proposed contract was rejected by 98%. With a ban on overtime and a meager 3% raise, it is calculated that after inflation, the average Clarios worker’s annual salary will be reduced by $15,000.

Is anyone else working to expand support for striking Clarios workers in Toledo?

An open letter from the Clarios Workers Rank-and-File Committee

‘With Clarios pulling in $1.6 billion in profits last year, no one can tell us there is no money to pay us what we need. Instead of giving billionaire investors and corporate executives huge payouts, the money should go to the workers whose blood, sweat and tears make the profits.

To the UAW officials, we are serving notice that we will not accept a contract that does not meet these conditions. You took us for fools in the last contract, trying to present it as a great victory when it was really the same as the one that we already rejected.’

What demands has UAW local 12 made? And what says President 3% Shawn Fain?

Because of all the sawdust and logs still laying around.

It's hard to give wood away when you live in a forest...

Unlike the surrender monkey Democrats in the Senate where a majority of Democrats means Democrats lose vital legislation and Republicans laugh in their faces like the ineffectual, incompetent, pussy ass bitches the are, Minnesota Democrats set goals and deliver. Not appease and capitulate at the first opportunity.

Senate Democrats suffer defeat on voting rights after vote to change rules fails

Senate Democrats suffered a major defeat Wednesday evening in their efforts to pass voting rights legislation a key issue for the party, which is under pressure to take action ahead of the midterm elections just months away.

An attempt by Democrats to change filibuster rules in order to pass a voting bill failed amid opposition from moderate Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. The vote was 52-48, with the two moderates joining all GOP senators. After the vote failed, there was a loud round of applause from Republicans.

Note: Joe Manchin is a Democrat in good standing with the party, will receive financial and political support from the DNC, and is considered a valued asset to the party.

Some states, especially blue ones, are breeding grounds for idiots.

Fun fact: Blue states take care of the Red states.

The States That Are Most Reliant on Federal Aid

7 of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government were Republican-voting, with the average red state receiving $1.05 per dollar spent.

Red States Lead With Federal Dependence

Democratic-leaning blue states tend to be wealthier and pay more to the federal government than they get. In contrast, Republican-leaning red states tend to have less wealth and receive more federal government funds than they pay.

The federal aid from blue states to red states is frequently cited, like a mantra. The believers tend to forget the backstory, why formerly wealthy states are poor. Manufacturing jobs have been outsourced. The remaining wealthy states are mostly running on debt, financial hustles, and taking a cut of trade in the coastal states. The dollar is losing value as global currency, which cancels the government's ability to increase debt. It will probably default in the next few years.
