Looking For A Bit of Advice

At one point you couldn't. At least asstr and the other ancient one were censored. The urls are probably still censored, though.
Would the other ancient one be Stories On Line? I have stories on there, and the writing quality in general seems to be on par with Lit. They usually don't interfere with authors and post stories within a day or so. They also offer an author blog, which can be nice to have.

Downsides include the ancient software (although I've learned how to use it) and a bizarre scoring system. Of course, it is a small site that claims to have 55,000 stories.

Asstr, when I glanced at it, has a lot of true pedophilia. The writing quality seemed poor for everything. On all sites, comments tend to be sparse, or at least that has been my experience.

Oh, Lush wants you to use one of the style guides, I think Chicago.

If memory serves me well. No assurance that's right.
Lush requested that I use Grammarly. One of the moderators thought I was making too many errors, which was probably true. But I did get the free version, and it was good advice I think.

I to use Grammarly. My editor uses his mind and a couple of editing tools.

At least they invest in a team and actually enforce their rules consistently instead booting stories for no reason and allowing rape and underage stories galore.

Speaking of breaking rules, how' Susie these days?
I think their team consists of unpaid volunteers. Anyway, was Lit always that sloppy in letting banned content through? I admit I haven't read a lot of the stories here.

I think Asstr has clamped down on the tiny-tike stories. But I don't know for sure. I can't make heads or tales of the site. I was going to back up stuff there, but have long since given up that idea. I don't even remember if I ever published anything there.

Lush often blocks stories that can pass muster on Amazon and Smashwords. From what I was told, even reluctances can't get through, nor any story with violence of any kind. But I don't know because I gave up publishing there years ago.

In my time here, its always been the same. Stories kicked back unfairly-usually for underage- underage stories flying through and pure rape and torture porn all over the site, while much tamer stories are kicked back.

The issue here is there is only one person enforcing the rules and it comes down to two things, the fact they're barely skimming and give knee jerk reactions to something without a little more reading for content, and personal opinion so the entire site is run on an opinion which often doesn't adhere to the rules one way or the other.

At least at Lush there's more than one person each taking a chunk of stories and spending more time on them, and what they say is not allowed you would be hard pressed to find.

Its a shame lit was first to market and hence the biggest because LS and SOL actually put work into their sites and have rules in place to ensure the site doesn't turn into a cesspool like Lit is.

I thought asstr went south when the founder was locked up for the content there, it wasn't that it was under age as there is no law against that, but it was stories featuring the outright abuse of minors that triggered a loophole that allowed him to be prosecuted for it.

Ironically... at least initially, the wait was as long as it is here. The benefit is that they will tell you the issue and even discuss it with you. Of course if I intend to repost any more things there, I know I have some editing to do- no complaints there, I should be seeking to do the shit right. Much like how ffn's rules taught me to avoid sexual scenes, or write them in a way to hide them, LushStories will help me better myself as a whole.
They can be picky, but as lovecraft mentioned, they will talk to you about their issues instead of just rejecting a story with a boilerplate explanation. With just Laurel here, it can be difficult to get her attention.

SOL's interface is almost as old as I am. Or that's how it feels.

So we are allowed to mention competing sites by name?

I think that depends on how they're mentioned. I've never had trouble from the mods when mentioning them as relevant to discussion - for instance, we've had a few threads about story tags, and I've mentioned Ao3 as an example of a site which has an interesting way of doing tags, something I wish we had here. But promoting another site at Literotica's expense might not go so well.

Might still be newer than this one, or at least as a whole. They update one part and something else falls apart.

But my point is more about content then the tech.

My wife found lit and its how I ended up here. If I could do it again I would have chosen differently. But its a case of I'm too tired and lazy to uproot, and if I left all the man babies would be happy and I couldn't allow that.

My understanding is as long as you don't link them its okay.

Wow, that's almost as detailed as Lit's version of Jeopardy "Did your story contain...."

I haven't published at SOL for some time, but I do publish on their sales site, and most of my stories are behind their paywall. But I hate the voting system on SOL so much. I get this burning in my throat, my belly is all juiced up, and I want to curse someone (Laz) out when I have mostly tens and nines and smattering near the middle, and my score is 6.5 or lower. WTF.

I was thinking Nifty, actually.

I don't get upset at Laz; at least he responds to questions although I'd guess he's somewhat of a curmudgeon. A 6.5 is sort of average there because of how they drop high and low scores (in some manner I don't fully understand). If I do post there, I know I'll never get an eight or nine even though it's theoretically possible. Among other reasons, that's why I have more stories on Lit than anywhere else. I save my burning throat for a possible (probable?) war in the Middle East. By the way, my track record on geopolitical predictions is terrible.

SOL is annoying to me. I'm on writingdotcom, too.

Since you brought this up, I took a look again. They seem to have an old (archived) site and a newer one that started a couple of years ago. I also looked out of curiosity at this: the archived site still has blatant pedophilia on it. It may be years old, but it's there.

I also looked at their method of posting stories (a long time ago), and I could not figure out how to do it.

You hafta send it via email as a txt.doc, if I recall.

Here it is.
Yes, I've dealt with cydia too. They are all polite, but they usually do not accept arguments. It's take it or leave it, basically. But all sites can be annoying I suppose. One of the favorite Lit forum topics is complaining about the site (and the readers too).
