Do tell where Jackson screwed up Faramir? I must have missed that.

This really got to me too. In the movie Faramir discovers that Frodo has The One Ring and acts like his brother, succumbs to the ring and drags Frodo back toward Minas Tirith. Only later does he let Frodo go on with his mission.

In the book he is much more noble. When Faramir figures out that Frodo has The One Ring and that Boromir tried to take it from him he says "But fear no more! I would not take this thing, if it lay by the highway. Not were Minas Tirith falling in ruin and I alone could save her, so, using the weapon of the Dark Lord for her good and my glory. No. I do not wish for such triumphs, Frodo son of Drogo."

So much better!!
