Isolated Blurt Thread

I was at a friend's surprise birthday party last night. I was worried he wouldn't show (and he almost didn't), but his sister managed to get him out. It was a fun night, and would have been even if he hadn't shown. But it was good that he did, and got to have fun at his own party.

What's up with the Lit Forums?

It is taking up to five minutes for any of my posts to appear, although the thread reappears with seconds of 'submit reply'.

My posts vanish into the ether and I have to refresh and refresh and refresh before my latest post adds to a thread.

Has Lit been hacked?

Five minutes to load the above post and five minutes for it to appear, yet I can use Yahoo and eBay with no delays at all.

WTF?

Spotted on NBC affiliate channel in South Bend, Indiana:

School Two Easy for Kids.

I find mainstream news sources are seriously lacking in proof readers anymore.

Chick days start tomorrow at the local feed store, wonder what the hatchery shipped :D

Ooooh! I'd like to get a couple layers. Maybe three. :) Let me know if you get some? We'll compare notes!

Well Done, Wales.

Thank you, England!

And Scotland! What a scrap.

Guys, if Scotland end up snaffling the Championship from England I will set up a special thread for Steve ROFL.

:rose: for you England fans.

(PS my posts sometimes take ages to appear too. It's very annoying when you've asked for a cup of tea and the request takes so long to post that you have gone off and made one yourself in your own kitchen before anyone replies to you.)

I tried Spotify yesterday. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I just want to set up internet radio so that I can listen to music that I don't own copies of while I am at work so that I can occasionally here something new and get ideas of what to buy later and put on my iPod for when I am in the car.

How about finding a local radio station then? Spotify is for people who know what they want to hear and can make their own playlist.

I find nice things on Youtube. I play a song, then a stack of suggestions come up for similar songs I might like and I often go: Ooh, yes, The Temptations, My Girl, or Hey, how long it is since I played Faure's Pavane.

:rose: for the cute smile.

Ex-Term-in-ate no more.

The inventor of the DALEK, Ray Cusick, has died, aged 84.

May he rest in Peace, free of the Dalek voice.

Ah yes, nothing like a little nocturnal lucubration ;).

What's the expression for two words meaning the same ?
According to my Oxford, lucubration IS a nocturnal process.

I think it's time I put my feet up or went shopping. I'm too tired to carry on. It was a very busy day, yesterday; and bloody cold.

 You're right. I thought so but I foolishly relied on a lousy online dictionary which just said 'hard work'. Now I remember, it means putting in long hours by candlelight.

Local radio? Hah! I listen to metal. Heavy metal, death metal, speed metal, metalcore, deathcore... They don't play metal on any stations around here that I can receive (there is one almost university station that does play metal but I only pick it up on occasion and they censor their music which really fucking sucks). So I need other outlets to get my music from.

Is there a specialist heavy metal radio station you could get? Online?

I find the Youtube thing quite good.

:)

I used to use Pandora. It gave me a good selection of metal. I bought some CDs because of music that I heard on Pandora.

Slacker is similar and supposedly has more music in their library, so I am trying it out.

LastFM is similar, but they play a lot of stuff that wasn't metal mixed in, and was annoying so I don't use it anymore.

YouTube is useful if I know one or two particular things that I want to hear. But if I just want to play some music on random to take up my entire day, it isn't very convenient. Pandora, Slacker, and LastFM take up that mantel much better.
