Is anyone still reading these? Fetish Friday is on a Sunday this week... Slightly later, but just as kinky!
This week, a cherished fantasy of mine that I've been lucky enough to live out. Maids!
When I first started publishing erotica, I wrote what I thought people would want to read. My rationale being that I was experienced and imaginative enough to dream up pretty much any scenario you could think of, whether I was into it or not. So my early catalogue is filled with, gasp, dicks! Acres and acres of dicks, as far as the eyes can see - well, not quite that much, but way more dicks than I'm comfortable with. And, as I conjured all those dicks into life, I felt painfully aware that I was out of my comfort zone, so I'd dream up ways for the poor girls who lived among all those dicks got some time alone for a little bit of, well, girl time.
One day, one a whim, I just went ahead and wrote a book that was all girl, my first purely lesbian story, one that was written for me and me alone. Instantly, I was amazed by how much easier it was to write. Easy to see in retrospect, but writing close to your heart and your experience is far easier than putting yourself in the mindset of something that you don't identify with. In this particular case, the fantasy I wrote about was one that I'd had for a long, long time: that of a dominant older woman coming into possession of a much younger girl who she employed as a maid. Of course, the particular type of maid in this book didn't stop at cooking and cleaning, oh no, this was an erotic maid and her duties went far beyond what might be considered respectable.
But the story flowed, and then another, and then another. It flowed and it sold and I became drunk on an orgy of fictional maid erotica, tapping into a seemingly never-ending well, the depth of my own arousal showing clearly through in the quality of the sex I was writing.
And I'm still doing it. I just published a new trilogy, about a girl who finds herself serving an older woman and... well, you get the idea. It's formulaic, yes, repetitive, yes, but I love writing it. I genuinely think I'll never tire of this fantasy.
So what is it about the particular fetish of "maids" that thrills me so? Well, I think this is an easy one to explain. If you've been following along with my other posts, you'll know that most of my kinks and fetishes involve an asymmetry, a mismatch in power and control. I, myself, am a dominant woman and I love to be with submissive girls. I'm enthralled by the idea that such a dichotomy exists in my gender, that some women want to own and some women want to be owned.
The maid stereotype, then, fits that dichotomy perfectly. On the one hand, you have the Mistress - strict, bold, confident, every quality I would hope to see in myself. On the other, you have the maid - submissive, nervous, reluctant, craving discipline and structure. All the trappings of this position - the uniform, the domestic tasks, the punishments when she fails - emphasize her submission perfectly. In becoming the maid, she becomes what she longs to be the most - a possession; dressing to another woman's specifications, living according to another woman's rules; giving over her life and her agency willingly to achieve what she longs to be.
In short, it's a power thing, a control thing, whether you want to give it or receive it... and it's that type of relationship that I long to capture in my stories - that dynamic, that relationship, Mistress and Maid, owner and owned.
It was only in researching (ahem) videos to include in this post to illustrate what I love about this fetish that I realized that I was meeting only with frustration. This is because the world of internet porn seldom hits that particular note that I long to experience. Internet maid porn is aimed at males, clearly, and tends to be more about the uniform and less about the mindset of Mistress and maid.
