Can't publish my first story, stuck in "pending" marked as "new"

So, after a couple days in "pending" mode story changed to "new", "pending" tag removed but it's still displayed in "pending" section, not "published". When I try to push "Submit for publication" button on preview page, I get "Story cannot be published". What do?

After it's been approved, it gets published the next day so it'll change from 'pending' to 'new' with a date by it. Once it gets published on that date, it moves out of the pending folder.
