Are you creating these yourself? If so, how? By what methods?

I don't know about the cougar, but the blue monster in the other one looks to be pasted from Dungeons and Dragons 3.5. The original (Ethereal Marauder) was by Brian Despain.

Is it plagiarism? Or is it fan fiction?

This always confuses me in art, music and stories.

Where is the line?

IMHO it's plagiarism when the intention is to conceal the source and pass off somebody else's material as one's own. Fanfic, OTOH, is usually written for an audience who are already familiar with the original and can tell how much has been taken from it.

Blatant copying is on the "plagiarism" side of the line. Taking an artist's work, as done here, flipping it from left to right and changing the colours, but with NO attribution, is like taking fifty sentences and changing only the characters' names, and changing the city from Dallas to Houston. That's plagiarism.

Fan-fic is taking the idea of someone else's creation and going somewhere new with it.

An artistic example would be Tenniel's version of the Jabberwock, put next to Mervyn Peake's. Clearly the same creature, illustrating the Lewis Carrol poem, but two quite different artistic interpretations. Not plagiarism. (You'll need to do your own research - I have two different print copies of the same works, but with different illustrators.) I'm assuming most people know the Tenniel Alice, but fewer will know of Mervyn Peake.

OK, the other thread's gone. Still waiting to hear about the cat.

If it a random graphic is not water marked or signed it is considered public domain, just like any other clip art.

It's just a little app on my iPad called Pixelmator. I use it to erase and replace backgrounds.
What is the original source of the cat? Did you create it by your own hand? Simply editing the work of someone else is not permitted here.

It was not artwork. Just a picture in public domain, same as the forest scene. All those 3D rendered pictures you see here were not created by the person posting, they were simply manipulated, much like moving the arms and legs of a doll.
