One of the things I have always loved about this place is how much I learn from the other posters. gm's initial post (and Piscator's response) led me off onto a fascinating diversion about the Carmelite order, which led me back to one of my favorite operas, Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites and its wrenching final scene (the swoosh sound is that of the guillotine, executing the nuns).

I might comment some more after I stop crying. :)

The blot of lightning lit the implications for all of us, spread across unsteady skies.
