A Coming Out of a Sort

Maybe I just need to give it a go and see what the reaction is. Full disclosure: I’m worried about being laughed at by gay male readers.

So my GF talked me into watching this movie called Red, White & Royal Blue.

It's a gay male love story based on a book. Written by a woman.

It's done phenomenally well from what I understand, very popular.

I thought the movie was well done actually. Avoided a LOT of the usual gay stereotypes and tropes.

You have a knack for making even your kinkiest stories have some heart and humanity to them.

I think you're selling yourself short here.

Just my opinion.

I have always kept everything under one account. From a handful of romances to incest and LW, its all under the one name, and I've seen no indication that it hurts any of my stories, and I've never received any type of blowback about "I read this sweet romance, then checked out your other work and its sick!"

Granted, I have nothing here in GM, but if I was hit by an idea for one, I'd write it and put it under the same name.

I suppose there's reasons people have for keeping things separate, but I think you're doing the right thing getting it all under your main name. Maybe the GM stories get people to look at some of your other work

We'll see. At the time I published my first Gay story I was in the middle of also writing my first Loving Wives story, so I was possibly overcautious. There was a certain sense in keeping the alt, as it grouped all four stories (encounting) together cleanly on a page that showed them all to be highly rated. With my main alt, those looking for more specifically Gay stories will have to pick through my whole portfolio which is all over the place in terms of category and ratings. As you say, it may get people to look into other categories though.

Part of the reason for the change was I've got a stated goal of writing for a story for every category and I've been thinking about what happens at New Year's when I have to report my progress - do I write a gay story under TheRedChamber only make it sure its less gay? It was getting a bit silly.

A few months ago when I was poking around the all time fav lists in each category I was shocked to find out that not only are lll three of my lesbian pieces on the list, but all below #50
#'s 9/26/48

Let me tell you this, if I can write a lesbian story that's convincing enough to be that popular...anyone can. To me, my stories scream "look at the guy writing lesbian porn" but either I'm better at that than I thought, or people just don't care and the premise and sex is hot.
I have to laugh. My recent pair of lesbian stories got comments like 'very authentic' and 'reads as if it were true'. Then I look at the commenters bios and they're all men. Whatever, I'm still counting it as a win.
