Now...... ‘Hard Worker’ Is Offensive Term Due to Slavery, Working Women.

ALFONSO AGUILAR: But let’s be fair. If there’s somebody who is a hard worker when he goes to Washington, it’s Paul Ryan. Not only works with the Republicans but Democrats. You know very well that I work on [the] immigration issue, trying to get Republicans to support immigration reform. Paul Ryan is somebody who has supported immigration reform, has worked with somebody like Luis Gutierrez. Luis Gutierrez is very respectful, speaks highly of Paul Ryan. This is somebody who’s trying to govern.

MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY: Alfonso, I feel you. But I just want to pause on one thing. Because I don’t disagree with you that I actually think Mr. Ryan is a great choice for this role. But I want us to be super careful when we use the language “hard worker,” because I actually keep an image of folks working in cotton fields on my office wall, because it is a reminder about what hard work looks like. So, I feel you that he’s a hard worker. I do. But in the context of relative privilege, and I just want to point out that when you talk about work-life balance and being a hard worker, the moms who don’t have health care who are working–

;) ;)

Political Correctness is all about control of language by the Democrats.

I'm reading DOCTOR ZHIVAGO. During the Russian Revolution Zhivago and most middle class people were severely censured by the socialists.

Those who understand social class know the middle class (the self employed) are pathologically anxious about offending others. The elites and proletariat cant care less about how others feel.

You're reading it Now? I read it when I was a teen. (kidding)

So true.
Come to think about it, that was sortof reflected in my own experience as an immigrant.(not exactly word by word, but in terms of hierarchies in the social system).
During the first 2 years, I was struggling. + + to understand the system and in particular, "the games that people played at work". Most of my colleagues were fearful/avoided discussing these issues. My saving grace came from the fact that I also befriended some members of the 'proletariat', as you would call them, I guess. And they were nice enough to support me and to explain to me the ropes & advise me on how to navigate the inherent crap from work.

(Although what I noticed about Au/Nz, as opposed to Eu: Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between 'social classes' - they're generally equally well-spoken and rel. educated).

IF YOU’RE HEARING DOG WHISTLES, YOU’RE THE DOG: MSNBC Host: When Republicans Say The Phrase ‘Hard Worker’ They’re Being Racist.

Huh — I thought “lazy” was the racist word, besides words like “golf” and “Chicago.”

Man, the pages you have to keep ripping out of your Newspeak Dictionary as the updates come in.
