Why is the media promoting transgenderism so heavily?

And why is it that my even asking the question is going to brand me a bigot?

From the proclamation on the cover of Time:

http://media.boingboing.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/original-1-930x1240.jpg

To entertainment stories blatantly admitting we are being told what to think:
The year that was: In 2014, TV transformed the way we think
(Note: Entertainment Weekly is owned by Time.)

To new TV shows, such as this forthcoming reality show being produced but ABC Family:
My Transparent Life

And now transgenders are being admitted into women's universities.
http://www.universityherald.com/articles/13685/20141208/scripps-college-to-admit-transgender-women.htm which of course means the end of women's sports as transgenders have the same physical advantage that men have.

What the fuck is happening here? The percentage of transgenders is 0.05% of the population or less. Why have we been groomed to accept this as normal?

Because tons of folks think because different = less than human....and it's not right.

In a nation where "anything goes" and "whatever you think is right something" has to go.

He has a common three letter name...starts with a capital G.

Just another crack in the Dam or is that Damned?

So you think that 1.5 million people being viewed as less than human means it makes sense that we should have a year long media crusade campaigning for their acceptance?

1.5 million people out of 320 million?

How many people live in poverty here and as such are also viewed as less than human? About 40 million. Where are the shows for them? Where are the magazine articles?

Nope, your theory does not hold up. It is something else.

Because it's sex-related, controversial, sensational, and thus sells magazines.

Gay/lesbian isn't edgy enough to grab the average supermarket shopper's eye anymore.

That too.

there ya go!

Since when is 'reporting' or 'noting' the same as 'promoting?'

It's an embracing of individuality, challenging what we deem as normal. I can understand if that's a bit threatening for some people to accept or identify with because you've always been considered normal and the way you feel inside hasn't been at odds with how you want to feel and be seen outside. So, because it's not the norm or because it's such a minority, we shouldn't make efforts to accept transgendered people or see things from their perspective? We should just accept the standards of beauty and femininity as they are?

When it is covered in preference over what is normal and main stream.

TV shows are not "reporting" and "noting" - they are promoting. ABC Family is not a new program. Netflix is not a news program. They are not reporting anything (nor do the claim to be reporting).

Really? You'd like to see a tv show about homeless people? Some would call that exploitation, especially if they remain homeless and/or poor to keep the show going.

I, have enough problems of my own,

Do like the rest of us in this world do and fucking DEAL with it.

That is what they should do.

Simple.

To break down family values so the sheeple are easier to control.

Because the implication in your question and the showing of your "evidence" is that they don't deserve the attention. That you think it's odd, weird and abnormal. You even say that in you OP, asking why it's being accepted as "normal".

I didn't say homeless, I said poverty. Don't reframe my comments to suit your agenda.

I would like to see a show that shows how tough it is to break out of the cycle of poverty. To end the whole "bootstrap" myth. Stories such as what was contained in this book: Nickel and Dimed

Your huge graphic was a news magazine.

I implied nothing. You inferred.

As for my use of the word normal. Well less than 0.05% of the citizens of the country have their penises removed. That isn't normal.

Loads of people will jump on me for that, but having your dick cut off isn't normal. It doesn't mean you should be treated poorly, you should still be treated like a human being. But it isn't normal.

The TG on Sons of Anarchy was pretty hot. And she talked exactly how I hear CJH's posts.

Yeah, but that's not sexy.

People don't want reality. They want Kim K's ass.

Exactly right.

It's because 'they' can give the public titillation about "trannies" (as the public views them) while looking somber and righteous. Titillating content sells advertising.
