Political Wars Episode II : Return of the Democrat

Yes, Hilary won the popular vote, but she lost the electoral college
It's the city people vs the country people
What will the future bring?
Unfortunately, once the populace learns that you can vote money to individuals, it's over
Socialism wins
We are doomed!

The election map is misleading. All of those large swatches of red are places were few people actually live.

Damn you're easy....All this name calling just because someone doesn't agree with you. The truth is we both get one vote, thats it which makes us equal.:)

Ah, but you support methods of denying one person, one vote. Don't be so stupid.

If you are going to be enough of a sleazy Trumpette to take pride in supporting Kemp, who used every trick he could to suppress and deny citizens votes and who took the fascist step of refusing to step back from supervising an election in which he was running, I don't mind pointing out your sleaziness. That you then bring up the equality of the voting just identifies you as one ignorant scum bucket.

I'm glad I get under your skin...Its easy really.....What else do you got ? I rather enjoy watching you unravel .

Don't feed the trolls. They're just going to interpret everything you say as further evidence that they're right, no matter what. It happens at both extremes, too.

Now, what can we expect from January on? I certainly hope it's putting a check on Twitler's out-of-control incompetence and making a clear case for what we could accomplish if we elect a Democratic president next time. Realistically, that's the best we can hope for with the Republicans still holding the reins elsewhere. But at this point I'll settle for that!

The House can conduct a whole range of public hearings--shine a lot of light on corruption, fascism, and criminal activity. They also can do a lot with the purse strings and can pass legislation that is obviously beneficial to most of the voters and just let the Senate show they are obstructing it. 2020 is the Republicans' turn to have a lot of difficult races for the Senate, with a good chance the Democrats will take that chamber in 2020--especially if the Republicans/Trumpettes continue as they are.

Which is indeed just what I'm hoping for.
What does frighten me a bit is a backlash in the Republicans' direction. That often happens after a landslide year like we had. But we also now see that when our voters show up, we win. I just really, really hope left-of-center voters take that to heart!

The "Republicans' direction" is, I think, going to become increasingly divided. Trump isn't really Republican (more neo-Nazi and "everything for Trump personally) and the traditional Republicans will, I think, continue to break away from him, accelerating as Democrats use control of the House to expose more and more administration corruption, criminality, and increased failure to get its agenda done. A new center may develop around the traditional Republicans and there will be two weak coalitions there for a while.

The victors of the 2020 election will be the ones who draw the district maps after that year's census. There should be a strong focus on state houses as well as the Presidency.

It will also depend on how many states try like hell to disenfranchise minorities now that the Supreme Court has a conservative majority.

That you keep posting distraction from the lack of a popular vote win means you're scared shitless how this is going to develop. :D

You didn't have to tell me that you voted for those sleazebags. It's written all over your sleazy posts.

She sounds real scared.

That wasn't the claim. The claim was that the people didn't accept Clinton/Kaine. No matter how you want to juggle it, Trump did not win the popular vote. Clinton did--with a margin of three million votes. It isn't the people who put Trump in to tromp on the office.

I'm perfectly content with you Trumpettes being losers to the end.

Losing never felt so good.:D

You've just discovered the reason for the electoral college! So proud of you right now!

So that the masses cannot easily steamroll minorities.

That's exactly why conservatives will never dismantle it. Our natural impulse is to stand up for the little guy, not drown him out with crying about "the orange man".

I think if we stopped trying to elect people to make a statement and instead, elected people that are truly qualified and are good leaders, we might do a bit better.

I don't give a rats ass if a president is male, female, white, black or pink with blue polka dots, as long as they are the best pick.

Actually, the electoral college was designed to protect slavery. In other words, it was precisely so that the rich, white landowners of the South COULD easily steamroll minorities.

And if I supported the party that had won two elections within sixteen years only because of that archaic tool with its ugly history, I sincerely hope I wouldn't be cocky about it.

Slavery? You mean the institution that was generally agreed would be retired but the right didn't have the swing to ban it from the outset? The institution that the right banned the further import of just a couple decades later and then banned outright over the strenuous objections of the Democratic Party? You really sure you want to talk about slavery, as a lefty loon?

No. Back to the books with you.

With a mostly Democratic Congress now in session, and gorgeous, strong ladies like Miss Ocasio-Cortez ( she's hot ) leading the pack, will the Democrats crush the Republican scum and take back the White House in 2020 ?

In just over two months, the House will have a Dem. majority; the GOP majority in the Senate will increase, and the POTUS will continue to be from the GOP until at least Jan. 2021. In the 2020 presidential election, a Dem. might win, but that probably won't happen.

Are you saying the anti-slavery Republican party of the 19th century was conservative, and the Southern Democrats were liberals? Cite the books.

Mostly I was mocking you for thinking the EC was about slavery.

However, the Republican party ended slavery and the Democrats fought to save it.

The two parties today are indistinguishable from each other anyway.
