You are absolutely correct, but I would add that "cuckold" also generally implies that a fair number of people, other than the husband, ARE aware of the cheating, and think the less of him for it behind his back. If a woman cheats on her husband, and nobody knows about it but her and her lover, the whole cuckold label becomes pretty much moot.
