Great poets occupy anthologies
top 10 lists on poetry sites
they are promoted by every conceivable way.

Their lines can be a poser
to ignite a smart discussion
among high school kids at literature lessons
politicians recite lines from their poems in their speeches.

There are postmortem perks to great poets
to keep their memory alive
they have nice and simple graves
at nice burial grounds
they can be a city landmark
a street name
they can be topics of books, articles
even movies.

But great poets have a dark side too
they can be very bad guys as well.

Most of them have turbulent lives
rude behaviors, a huge ego, huge sex drives.

Glossolalia, bi polar mania, bad trips
suicidal thoughts, questionable love affairs
god knows what else works behind their minds.

They can be a sickness for the readers
they can be a nightmare
seeing their names and works
over and over again
they stick and stay with the mind
readers can not get rid of them.

I stay away from great poets and poems
I read modest poets and poems
I don't let them ruin my mind.
