Arizona Republican Rep. Trent Franks announced in a statement Thursday night he will resign from Congress at the end of January, after the House Ethics Committee said it would investigate allegations against him of sexual harassment.

The House Ethics Committee announced earlier Thursday that it will investigate Franks to determine if he engaged in "conduct that constitutes sexual harassment and/or retaliation for opposing sexual harassment."

But of course whatever happened wasn't his fault. Thus:

On Thursday evening, a group of conservative House Republicans gathered around Franks on the floor and prayed with him.

But wait, there's more.

Republican Rep. Mia Love of Utah said on Thursday that her colleague GOP Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas should resign in light of allegations he sexually harassed members of his staff.

"I think that he should voluntarily resign," Love said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" with anchor Kate Bolduan.

The House Ethics Committee announced earlier Thursday that it had received information about Farenthold over the last two weeks and was investigating the Texas Republican.

For those who can't remember, Farenthold was the Republican who used $84,000 of taxpayer money to pay off a woman he sexually harassed.

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee and the con artist, someone who has been recorded bragging about his own sexual harassment of women, steadfastly support the pedophile Roy Moore despite the numerous and overwhelming allegations of his sexual perversions against girls.

Not a bad thing!

Personally, I don't think it's such a bad thing that Congress is getting 'cleaned out'.

I'd love to learn who were the participants that submitted and pushed through the Rule that anyone who was sexually assualted or abused or etc by someone seated in Congress has to wait 90 days before they can report it. Whoever it was should also be forced to resign.

I'm sure you know by now that Al Franken, Dem. senator from MN resigned today. Now, that was good news. I wonder if Michelle Bachmann will run for the newly-available seat.

ETA: very likely Keith Ellison will be one candidate.

Gee, had your head under a bucket since noon?

Suppose you heard that Franks of Arizona is calling it quits too. He solicited staffers to be a surrogate momma for he and his wife.

Bachmann could run, but would be a joke.

The shoo-in for appointment is Lt. Gov. Tina Smith.

We still await the hacking and release of the Congressional Sex Abuse Payoff Slush Fund names and amounts. Or is that list only kept on a floppy-stiffy diskette and inserted when new entries are added?

Wikipedia's List of federal political sex scandals in the United States might hint at the partisan breakdown of those payoffs. Listed here are (by my count) the decade totals:

I've read about that, and you're probably right, but I'm thinking about the special election next Nov. Ellison has some support too but, as a Muslim, he probably wouldn't have much chance of winning a statewide election. Why do you call Bachmann a joke? She certainly has the experience and the name-recognition.

Barney Franks and a prostitution scandal.

Roy Moore, defeated by a Democrat, will have to settle for becoming ambassador to Thailand or something.

I see what you did there. No doubt, he'll consider it a "holy mission" to those young, impressionable Buddhist Thai girls.

For Minnesota, Smith is in, and Ellison is not running.

Almost a shame in a way. Nothing would stick in the Donald's craw more than a black, Muslim Senator. :D

Then again, isn't Smith a woman? As in, Lt. Gov. Tina Smith? Yes, that would annoy the Donald a lot, too.

Why do you call Bachmann a joke?

Because she is a joke who strangely resembles the 40 Year-Old Virgin.

I believe Ellison would have no chance of winning a state-wide election.

As your fellow Trump dupes/dopes have been opining for weeks now concerning Alabama, unless you are from Minnesota, no one cares what your opinion is and you have no say in the matter.

Michael Rekola, who was Farenthold's communications director in 2015, described in an interview with CNN new details of the congressman's abusive behavior. It ranged from making sexually graphic jokes to berating aides -- bullying that Rekola says led him to seek medical treatment and psychological counseling, and at one point, caused him to vomit daily.

One comment from the congressman was especially personal. Rekola was about to leave town to get married in July 2015, when, he said, Farenthold, standing within earshot of other staffers in his Capitol Hill office, said to the groom-to-be: "Better have your fiancée blow you before she walks down the aisle -- it will be the last time." He then proceeded to joke about whether Rekola's now-wife could wear white on her wedding day -- a clear reference, Rekola said, to whether she had had premarital sex.

The party of family values. What else needs said?

Sir Arthur C. Clarke invented the concept and structure of geosynchronous communications satellites. (And 'Moonbeam' Jerry Brown's proposal to use such sats in a global news network inspired Ted Turner.) Clarke's first SF story about sats involved China using them to beam explicit pr0n into USA and Euro TV receivers, to demoralize the West.

Turns out we didn't need nefarious Chinese intervention. Gups have turned it into a party platform: glorify the Gup pedos and pervs. Is USA demoralized yet?

I'm struggling with the concept of explicit porn being demoralizing. :D
