Unnecessary bar to author's freedom

Friends, I have started writing a new story in series. It is in Bengali language. So far 6 parts have been written. The 7th part has been rejected by some reviewer. It says: Paragraphs should be broken down, long paragraphs should be avoided. However, it is utterly wrong. Below I am giving the excerpts from the msg I sent as a feedback to the site, hoping someone sensible will see it.

Is any other help from anyone possible ? How do I convince them that the paragraphs are okay ? Is there any Bengali-speaking reviewer or Bengali-speaking admin available here to discuss ? Please suggest.


EXCERPTS FROM MY MSG TO THE SITE :: This is hilarious. First of all, the writing style is same in all parts. If the first 6 parts were approved, why not the next ? Secondly, I reviewed the text and did not find any problem with the paragraph formation. It is perfectly arranged as needed. As an author it is me who should decide on the sentence & paragraph formation. It depends on the flow of the story and context.

I understand what Literotica meant as a general guideline and it is a helpful tip for new writers. But that does not mean it can be applied to reject a legitimate story. Was it read by a Bengali editor ? How can a person, without knowing the language, judge whether the story is readable or not ? I am frustrated with this treatment. I am not going to post any further part unless you approve the 7th part in its original form as I submitted.

You cannot restrict an author's freedom unnecessarily. The very fact that the first 6 parts, written in the same style by the same author, were approved and next part was rejected - shows that you are inconsistent about your approach.

It will be a loss for everyone if I have to stop publishing any further part of this story here.

How many words per paragraph?

It would help if you posted a link to the existing parts.

Unless you sent your message as a Private Message to Laurel, it won't have got through. That is the ONLY way to communicate with her. She is responsible for approving all stories posted to Literotica.

Rejections are not always final. The generic message indicates that a problem has been identified, and means that the author should reconsider the submission.

The specific rejection might be because the previous parts had not been seen as a problem. Perhaps they should have been? Who knows?

What is generally true is that long unbroken pieces of text are uncomfortable to read on a small screen. Stories on the internet are easier to read if there are more paragraph breaks than would be normal for a printed book. I have broken that rule, deliberately, but I recommend shorter paragraphs. If we could see your earlier parts, even in Bengali, we could advise you better.

PS. This thread should have been started in Authors' Hangout or Editors' Forum, not the General Board.

I looked. Some of the paragraphs in the existing parts are 20+ lines long. With each part being only one Lit page, I'm surprised any of them were approved, let alone 6.

I am. I am happy and content with life and I enjoy the majority of my online experience. I do not see a need to lie about who I am, instead choosing to remain private. You and sooo many others prefer to pretend to be what you are not. That's fine cuz it makes you feel good inside and doesn't really hurt anyone.

There was a time when I was very open, willing to discuss my personal life and beliefs and the only thing that came of that honesty was for Laurel's Starship Troopers to use all of that information, twist it, and make up lies and personal attacks. If I am somewhat quiet and closed-mouthed now, then it is up to her, and their, efforts. This is exactly the mechanism that caused the Left to be gobsmacked in the last election. They intimidate, harassed and ensured free speech for some, but not for those who with they disagreed, and those who were silenced, went into the voting booth where the Progressive Left could not silence them and rejected the Democrat candidate in favor of a reality TV clown.

Think about that for more than ten seconds. Everything sounded like a duck, it polled like a duck, but in the long-run, they were done in by the "Bradly Effect." (Look it up.)

I see the same thing being reflected in the joy of yesterday's primaries; Democrats are celebrating the wins of transgenders, Muslims and a Somali, who are going to poll well, because people will not tell a pollster that they are not going to vote for them for fear of being labeled as some sort of "-phobe." But on election day, the voters get to have a private opportunity to vote what they actually think and feel.

And for the record I no longer believe the rumors about your Branson timeshare. I should have realized when you lost your truck unloading gig in January that a timeshare immediately became a luxury you could not afford on your primary breadwinner squaw's salary.
