Donut shop put a huge rock in their planter to keep people from driving over it.

I don't see this as a large enough impediment. It gets lost in A pillars/blind spots and doesn't stand high enough to be seen in a small parking lot.

Besides that "planter" is just filled with a rock so they've defeated it purpose as a planter. And who cares if people drove over it. They're not going to if there is a car parked there so it only when it's empty that anyone drives over it.

Just seems like a dick move by a business. They overlayed to original parking lot as can be seen by the top of the curb (no one in their right mind pays to put a curb in a lot and then paves that high) so they fucked up. May as well splurge on a few yellow bollards instead of fucking up customers vehicles.

I think if you aren't capable of seeing a 400 pound lump of rock in your path when driving, you shouldn't have a license.

Yup, it's always the inanimate object's (or the party responsible for placing it in its place) fault for being driven into or over.

Never mind the driver -- in control of the moving vehicle and has eyes, a brain and motor skills to turn a steering wheel -- who needs to be paying attention to what's in their path.

Let's just be thankful there's aren't baby strollers, wheelchairs, or other humans in the path of said vehicle.

Idiot drivers are everywhere!

I've build parking lots for coming up 25 years. They're generally terribly designed. The best parking lots don't have any curbs (islands basically with some trees or shrubs or rocks) in the interior because they're a hazard. And if people are driving over a certain section it's because it was poorly designed (or overlayed as I previously mentioned). All the rest of your diatribe is over the top. Which is par for the course online.

Must be nice living in la la land there Dave. In the real world parking lots aren't supposed to have "tank traps". After all its just place to temporarily store ones vehicle while spending money in the adjacent businesses . I could see some larger rocks protecting a pedestrian crossing but there isn't anything around this particular example.

So how would a parking lot builder acquire a 'tank trap' rock?

'Yo, rock merchant, I need me a rock. Small enough for drivers not to see it, big enough for them to get stuck on it'

'Sir, I have just what you're looking for here, the model-900, pure rockies granite, designed from the ground up to be placed into parking lots...'
