If you were to celebrate the death of the one of the cops who took part in the beating, then I wouldn't give you shit for it. But would you also celebrate the death of the homeless victim's father? He was a cop too, you know.

Police who abuse their power is a huge problem. But police perform an essential function in society, and so we need more good people to become cops. Condemn the individual cops who commit crimes, but don't vilify the profession as a whole... as if there is something immoral about simply being a police officer. This just makes the problem worse because it makes it harder to attract ethical people to the job.

Look, you're new to the police discussion thing so I'll lay some facts first.

The police aren't there to protect you, the common citizen. In fact, a Supreme Court decision came down saying that the cops have no duty to protect you. Here's the documentation on that: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/28scotus.html

The African American community has been absolutely devastated by the police. The cops are out there harassing black people in New York when they're not outright shooting black men for pulling out wallets. Half of the prison population is black men incarcerated for victimless crimes. They just recently shot up people all over Los Angeles hunting for one black dude. Police spy on political activists, they even fuck prostitutes. They even ignored an Oakland, CA man's calls for help against a home intruder because they were too busy guarding a bank from Occupy protesters. The dude wound up dead.

Police no longer perform any essential function and it is hard to argue that they ever did. When seconds count, the cops are minutes away.

America with police is starting to look like an America without them. The police are self-entitled and downright violent usually for no damned reason. They have a de facto monopoly on the legally sanctioned use of extrajudicial lethal force.

So yes, in light of all the people who have lost their lives and their freedom unfairly due to the police, I do cheer when one of these pigs gets... retired early.

If I take a rifle to a "gun-free" move theater and start blowing people away, are the victims supposed to call on gun-owning friends and family for help?

in all honesty though...ive been in europe, been in south america, been in an american state prison, own a small company, sold drugs in the past, been to school, have two certifications for good money NON LABOR jobs that i don't even use. i would say i have quite a bit of experience in real life for a 26 year old

then there also the 154 i.q. , so not to be conceited , cause despite my bluster when someone annoys me and how amazing i seem, I'm actually not perfect. but I'm damn good. got the raw intelligence and got the fuck it lets go mentality thats brought me more experiences in life than anyone jerking off on literotice 18 hours a day will ever have.

Maybe they don't get there in time, but they catch the guy through the surveillance tapes or the description of his car. If nobody ever got caught there wouldn't be anyone in jail for armed robbery. If you rob places for a living the chances are extremely high that you will eventually get caught.

Police arrived on the scene 90 seconds after the 911 call and had the shooter in cuffs a few minutes later. So I'd say they saved quite a few people. Also, the shooter's arrest prevented him from committing future murders and deterred others from doing the same.

Based on your signature, I'm going to assume you are in favor of tax laws that redistribute wealth. What good would these laws do if no one was empowered to enforce them? What good would any laws do? Are you an anarchist?

But yes, sometimes the police actually do their job. This is no longer the rule, however. How easily you outright dismiss all the examples I posted where the police ended innocent people's lives and proved to be more dangerous than the criminals...
