Since our old thread was waaaaay over five thousand posts, it was finally shut down. We had so much fun the first time, why not go for round two? Here's Janey's opening post. I figured she said it best the first time. :D

Link to the old thread: The Living Room.

Hi and welcome to our living room! I'm Plainly_Jane, otherwise known as Jane, Janey, or PJ. My Living Room co-hosts are Chargergirl and SethP.

We hope this thread will be a fun and welcoming place. We've got a huge living room, filled with comfortable couches, love seats, easy chairs and even a few bean bag chairs scattered across the floor. There's always a pot of coffee in the kitchen, tea bags in the cupboard to the left of the fridge, low fat milk and half-n-half in the fridge, along with various cold sodas and beer.

Of course, there are several rules we ask everyone respect:

1. Take your shoes off at the door;
2. Don't put drinks on the coffee table without using a coaster;
3. If you use the last sheet of toilet paper, please put a new roll on the roller!;
4. Leave your arguments with others at the door, along with your shoes;
5. No flaming;
6. And that's about it

Come on in, have a seat and stay awhile

Weeehaw! Lookie at the living room, all remodeled and still smelling of fresh paint :)

I call dibs on that big comfy easy chair by the window!

*hugging* my co-hosts Charger and Seth.

How's the Christmas shopping going? I think I only need a few more gifts (one more for my son, one for my boss and another for a co-worker, and then a couple more for my neighbors, and oh yeah, two more friends - yikes, better get to it!)

So what's the result of the great Christmas tree adventure? Did you guys find one? They keep changing the weather - now we aren't supposed to get much from the storm, which is good, I'm not complaining! lol I do hope the snow sticks around for Christmas, after that it can go away. \

Got everything bought that I wanted to, except for a book for my mom. Did lots of wrapping over the weekend and the tree looks so pretty with the gifts underneath. Had some help from the younger daughter, she's getting to be a good present-wrapper for only 9 years old.

Saturday we're going to my parents' to bake cookies with my dad. We do it that every year and it's become a fun tradition. I think the older daughter was only about 2 when we started and she's going to be fourteen, so it's been going on for a while now.

I carried this over from the old thread, because I didn't get a chance to respond before it closed down.

Soooo, I wanted to get out early on Sunday and pick out a tree before it got too trafficky and busy. Unfortunately, my son is a slug! Plus he was watching the 49er's game. So I went out alone to a little tree lot at the local fairgrounds. They were not busy, so I got to park right by the entrance. The guys were super helpful, the prices were good, and I got a 6' tree. They stuffed the tree in my back seat, with the tip sticking out a side window lol. So we got it up and decorated, and were watching the game about an hour later when the whole thing toppled over! fortunately, no broken decorations, and we anchored it much better the 2nd time around.

Fake tree here. I loved getting live ones in Oregon though. Much better!

Love the new look here. :D *flops down in the over-stuffed recliner by the fireplace with an extra large coffee mug* Ahh...

Christmas shopping is done and everything is almost wrapped. I picked up a book my mom wanted yesterday and that's the last of it. However, the younger daughter decided to come down with a fever yesterday and it spiked last night at 102. So she's home today, and possibly tomorrow. I'm so not sending her back to school only to have her come down with the fever all over again. Or worse, catch something else because her body is already fighting off some kind of crud. Like her big sister said, "Better this week than next week at Christmas." How true.

Glad you found a tree! Are they expensive out there? A 6' tree here would be about $40-45.

We did fake for awhile, but our naughty little cat liked to climb and destroy. A real tree fixed that. He didn't like the pokey needles.

I am seriously giving thought to retiring to somewhere along the coast of Oregon (some years down the road yet), because I need a cooler climate and like rain. I bet those live trees were great! But a fake tree is nice too :)

Sorry about your daughter's fever, but yes - better this week than next. Hope she feels 100% better soon! I am still waiting for most of my gifts to arrive so I can wrap them. Our tree is pretty, but there's nothing underneath it yet.

I got a 6' tree for under $40, and they netted it at apparently no charge. So I was happy with the deal and I'll go back to the same lot next year. We have a lot of Christmas tree farms in the next down to the west of us, and they'll cut down any tree you pick out. However, they are pricier and a farther drive, so I decided to save a few bucks this year.

Now I'm off to the post office to ship my gift up to Idaho to my aunt and uncle, and that's it for mailed items at least :)

Glad you found us, GA, in spite of the smell. ;) :D

Kids had an ice day Friday, so an early start to their vacation. The younger daughter's fever broke Thursday night, finally. She was down and out and feeling like crap for awhile there.

We are heading to my parents in a little while to make our cookies with my dad. More ice on the way this afternoon into tonight, so it could be a slippery drive home!

Ahh! Jane! I just re-read your post about the tree toppling over! I missed that the first time. lol That happened to us once a long time ago when I was still living at home. The cat ran up the tree before my dad had it tied to the wall and over it went. He used to use fishing line and tie it to a nail in the wall.

Hope you have a good weekend! What's your schedule like for next week? Are you heading to your folks'?:rose::kiss:

Man, I'm sick...hopefully I feel better by Christmas. How are all of you?

the GA is in.
...which explains the smell. :D

I have a terrible head cold and can't smell much of anything, but I imagine you smell like peppermint and booze GA :D

I'm sorry you're sick. I woke up in the night Friday with a sore throat and beginnings of a bad cold. On Saturday, had a slight fever all day and generally felt lousy. I'm at work today, but am going straight home and hitting the couch. thank goodness for leftovers!

Charger - my solution to bolstering a tree isn't as efficient as your dad's, but the three 5-pound weights we placed on the side of the trunk seem to have done the trick :D

I'm glad your daughter is feeling better, and hope I am feeling better soon. Next year, I will get my flu shot. I will get my flu shot. I will get my flu shot. Crap.

:rolleyes:

This thread started off like a hospital ward! Is everyone and family felling better now? I hope so!

I'm finally feeling better. Very rough the last couple of days...I was too sick to perv on the shoppers and clerks this year! Lol. I got a couple of girls I'm gonna give some candy canes at work to today!

Haha! Whatever makes the damn thing stay up, I guess, right?

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. {{{Hugs}}} Hope today finds you doing a little better. I get the flu shot every year. I've never had the flu so I figure I must be doing something right? The girls get it, too.

You're right about the hospital ward, seth! Glad you're feeling better. You'll have to hit the after-Christmas sales so you can get your fill of perving.

Are those girls going to look at you and say, "Is that a candy cane in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" :D ;)

:rose::heart:Merry Christmas, everyone!:rose::heart:

and semen. :D

Wha? don't you wash your drawers GA??? And also, the peppermints are strong and thus cover the smell of your self-love. :devil:

Unspecified Diety - help me ! It is not even 11:00 yet, and I have much of my work day stretching before me without end. My boss drives me crazy with each passing year. There is nothing going on. It's the holidays. If one person is manning the office, that's plenty. Stay the fuck home! But no, he has to show up, early to boot, and then he sits there and plays games on his computer. The other attorney has more sense - she is working from home. The phone hasn't rung once. I'm caught up into next week. I would love to either be home, hanging with friends, or if I must be at work - here alone so I can watch Netflix. Is that too much to ask? (okay, end of my woe-is-me rant)

Yes, Seth - it was like a hospital ward in here earlier. I'm still fighting this nasty cold but it's easing off. Charger - next year I'm definitely getting a flu shot. I've learned my lesson.

Christmas was fun this year, but also a little funky. I had my fill of family by 2:00 p.m. Christmas Day. I think I am turning into a Grinch. LOL. It was so nice to get home and settle in for a good read on the couch while my son played Madden 25.

I didn't plan it good this year and had yo work the days after Christmas. Usually I take those off...bad planning!

Well, this week should be a little more relaxing for everyone, and less busy. Healthier, too, I hope!:rose::kiss:

I've got a business license appointment today! Wish me luck
